Question about Kenwood VR-407 Receiver

Subwoofer shutdown The subwoofer has power, the green light is on, so it is not in the standby mode, but no sound comes from the subwoofer. I hooked up another subwoofer and it works fine. So the problem is in the sub itself. Is there anyway to "reset" the sub?

I even replace the subwoofer speaker which went bad. Still having the same problem - all the lights show 'ready' but nothing comes out, yet it will still rumble when going through the test mode

Sorry, didn't mean to louse up this thread with the ill-posted "solutions."

    Basic question:

If a sub is producing sound when a receiver is in test-tone mode, but not when that receiver is processing audio from other sources, is it safe to say the problem is with the receiver? Specifically, with the internal device that should be separating low frequencies and sending them to the sub output?

And if so, what might a fix entail?

I bought the whole system from a friend, I listened to it work for over a year. After I set it up at my home I haven't had the sub work yet. Same as you guys, rumbles, green lights on, but nothing.

Exactly as the other submittals; no sound from audio works only during the setup

I have the same problem, but it does not rumble in test mode. Green light is on, and I hear it click on when I power on the receiver, but no sound from the subwoofer.

I'm having the same issue as pdoug: Sub rumbles in test mode, doesn't produce sound otherwise. Which makes me suspect it's the receiver itself -- the filter (or whatever) it is that should be separating the bass signal and sending it to the sub is not working. At least that's my guess.

Either way... this sucks.

Make sure that your sub is turned on in the user menu. Also check your connections. If all checks good, you are covered under Mfg Warranty. Take it to a servicer or call Denon.

My subwoofer is connected correctly (test mode it works fine). The Denon 589 receiver, however, when everything is set up and ready to go, doesnt seem to send any output to it, so there is no base sound. ...

What's the make and model of the subwoofer? It sounds like it's a passive (unpowered) speaker.

See page 9

I seriously doubt your test mode worked fine on the subwoofer level adjustmnent.

Get a powered (active) sub.

Pioneer VSX-815-K receiver with sub in standby

Have you looked in the manual?

No sound from subwoofer. • Make sure the subwoofer is switched on.
• If the subwoofer has a volume knob, make sure it’s turned up.
• The Dolby Digital or DTS source you are listening to may not have an LFE channel.
• Switch the subwoofer setting in Speaker Setting on page 40 to YES or PLUS.
• Switch the LFE Attenuator Setup on page 61 to LFEATT 0 or LFEATT 10.

No Soound on Subwoofer from Yamaha RX-V363

I have the same setup. Are you going out of the subwoofer output of the reciever? (it's purple.) then into the LFE jack of the subwoofer (also purple.) That's the only connection you need besides power. If you have those right, try using your cable for something else to make sure the cable is good. Is the indicator of the subwoofer green? Mine comes on with the reciever. Good luck!

SA-AX720 no subwoofer signal?

THIS UNIT HAS NO SUB WOOFER AMP IN IT. THE ONLY WAY TO OVER COME THIS IS TO HOOK THE LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT SPEAKERS STRAIGHT TO THE SUB WOOFER AND THEN GO FROM THE SUB WOOFER BACK TO THE INPUTS ON THE BACK OF THE UNIT FOR THE FRONT SPEAKERS. THE SUB WOOFER THIS WAY WILL EXTRACT THE BASS AND THE FRONT WILL RECEIVE THEIR PART. THIS SOUNDS CRAZY AS HELL I KNOW BUT THAT'S HOW I GOT MINE TO WORK. THE OUTPUT FOR THE SUBWOOFER IS USELESS AND PUT THERE FOR YOU TO HOOK UP AN AMP FOR A SUB WOOFER. EVERYTHING HAS SHORT COMINGS, AND THAT'S THE ONE FOR THE AX-720.
