Look for your Convergence amps and check the solder connections on them....you may only have to resolder the amps...and if they fail in a couple weeks, then replace them...

If you don't beat up the convergence amps for WEEKS operating them with the bad connections, they can survive...

Check to make sure you reconnected the jumpers to connect the board that you removed. Also, check to make sure no resistors are burning. If still no pix, make sure you reconnected multi pin plug by digital convergence unit (DCU). Next, disconnect conv. plugs marked red, green and blue. This should allow power to come up if chip(s) are bad. Next, check pico fuses on board by jumper connectors or in power supply. If these are open look for solder bridges around conv. amps. Also, if any of these are open check all zener diodes beneath heat sinks where you installed conv. amps. Probably 27 v glass zeners shorted if solder bridges were created when changing chips. Good luck, sometimes you just get a bad I.C,Russmann.

In the convergence circuit, where the amps themselves are soldered to the foil side of the board, may be ring cracked. What you're doing by forcing it to start is causing an arc to form between the crack until the heat has built-up sufficiently to expand that joint and make contact. Eventually you will burn out the amps, overheat the return resistors and/or open some of the pico fuses in that circuit and send the repair bill that much higher... Better to pull that board, get out a good soldering tool and some solder and a good pair of reading glasses and locate / resolder those joints that are ring cracked...

I think you missed one cap. Look for another 1ufd cap close to the jungle chip. It will have the circuit designation in the 300's like the others in the vertical circuit. It is just not located close by. I think that one will fix it.I don't have the service data with me so I can't give you the exact designation.

Panasonic big screen - 7 years old. picture is distorted on top and bottem. has green ghost images

See if the problem is only occurring on HD sources. If it occurs on all sources - antenna, dvd player, cable box, etc then your convergence is off.
Some sets have a manual convergence option, but others do not - half of the time it doesn't work anyways. If you try the manual convergence, and it does not allow you to perform the required operations, then your convergence board is bad and needs to be replaced.

Needs the convergence amps replaced. This unit takes two STK392-120 Sanyo amps and no matter what others may say do not try and upgrade these to a larger amp like the 150's or you'll have color purity problems. Stay with the 120's..
A good certified shop can have this one back and running in short order.. When calling around ask what they charge to replace the convergence amps and take the unit to them rather than them pick it up and save the pu/del charge.
Good Luck!
