it could be a power issue. check to make sure that there is voltage at the breaker, then make sure that there is voltage at the plug that plugs into the back of the unit. the big problem with this plug in the needle pins inside the units plug area get bent or broken very easy,, so look at the back of the unit and in the plug area and see if all the pins look good. also check for a inline fuse and make sure it is not blown,, there could also be a circuit board issue going on like a bad resistor or diode. if you live in a big city you can most likely find a Raymarine dealer around your area that can take a look at the unit and do a quick trouble shoot to tell you if it is worth fixing. could also be just a circuit board fuse. or just a bad power cord.
Contact Raymarine or your nearest Raymarine dealer. Raymarine normally has those things on their website although it's a bit cryptic to find sometimes.
If the transducer is not correctly mounted this may happen due to air, etc. If the unit never gives a depth reading that looks like dashes
( - - ) then there is likely nothing wrong with it aside from the transducer placement.
Hi there... mine did the same the very first morning I took it out.
I rang and sent it to the manufactures. It was a very common thing and they fixed it within 10 days.
I have not had a problem since. It should not of happened in the first place though. I have read a heap of forums on this exact matter and i think you would be the 10,000 person with this very problem. I have also had big problems with my transducer... so overall I am not impressed with Raymarine.
All the best mate.
Hello vfedele5, The plug on the unit itself maybe the culprit. Check the voltage during power up, a resistance in the power line may be present. If the unit passes these test you have an internal connection error, bad internal connection, solder connection, ect. Merry Christmas.
