Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.

If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
Turn the printer off.
Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Hi, My Lexmark 2350 is not feeding paper through. It pulls on the right hand side but doesn't feed through and then says there's not paper in the tray. Any suggestions? Karla

Try to remove the sheets of paper from the feeder. Grab a flashlight and take a look into the feeder for any foreign objects that might have accidentally fallen into it. If none, unplug and replug your printer into your power source to reset it. If problem continues, please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance. Thanks.

We have a Optra R+ laser printer and it sometimes does not want to grab the paper all the way through from the paper tray. It seems to grab the paper but only half way but other times it has no problem at...

More often than not, the cause is the paper itself.

If the paper is not 20lb. paper it may be to thick or thin to feed properly.

Also, the rollers can become contaminated and allow the paper to slip.

My best suggestion, given the age of this printer, is to have the printer serviced. Just doing the maintenance kit should help.

BTW, I still have the 2455 model and it works fine.

Good products.

Hi, i have a lexmark x4550. The pick up roller (the roller that grabs the paper and feeds it into the printer to get printed on), is not working, at least one of them isnt (there are two i think,,, but on...

Try the following: take an A4 sheet of paper and glue a 2 - inch strip of sanding paper onto the top of the sheet (full width of the page). sanding paper should be about 120 grain.
Now feed the page with the sand paper first (rough surface on top) into the paper inlet. grab and hold the paper, then press paper feed or send a print job. The printer tries to feed you special sheet, but you won't let go. This will sand off the gunk from you feed rollers and give a bit of rough surface to the rubber. Repeat if needed, it should cure the problem.
This works if the problem is the roller surface, it will not fix a problem with misalignment or a missing/broken spring in the feed roller mechanism.

Yup rubber feed rollers can be replaced of even try just cleaning rubber with slightly damp cloth to remove paper dust that causes them to slip and not grip and feed paper as they should

Lexmark 1185 - paper feed problem

You may be missing a very small jam. Use a torch and tweezers, check down the back, also open cover, check even where you think paper wouldn't jam. Especially in teeth, rollers. Look for foreign debris as well as paper. Also, turn off, unlplug all cables/usb etc and replug, turn on. Finally, never load more than about 20 fine sheets at a time, reset printer settings to default. As a last resort, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.
