Try re-setting your password using the following information - should help you to log on!
You can get a new password, a Yahoo! ID reminder, or both. Visit the Sign-in Problems page and supply some basic verification information, such as your birthday and the ZIP or postal code you provided when you registered. Make sure to provide the same information you gave during registration or when you last updated your account. Without the correct verification information, you will not be able to obtain a new password. https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot?done=&src=&partner=&intl=us
The above link will take you to reset your password
Fixed it on the advise of others by turning off computer. Restarting and and after many more failed attempts at logging on to Yahoo finally getting logged in (to an unfamiliar Yahoo page) and eventually finding an option titled "mail" and voila, there was my email in the format which am accustomed to.
first try signin into your yahoo mail using your internet explorer if its workin fine then we can make sure that you have got your user name and password right. if you are not able to sign in the account i will give some toll free contact numbers u can cal them and fix your sign in issues,
if your yahoo mail is workin fine then the problem has somethin to do with messenger,
try downloadin a fresh copy of yahoo messenger and reinstal the messenger and then check whther itz workin,
stil if its not workin there might be a problem with your operating system.
there is an alternative method also, there are sites like www.ebuddy.com where you have an easy access to yahoo accounts.
