WorkCentre 555 Fax Drum

Installed new drum, WorkCentre 555 (fax) does not acknowledge and still says "replace drum".

i replaced the drum but the red light still indcates it need a new drum. Should I have waited til it actually asked for drum instead of changing it when it was just a warning. Perhaps the sensor does not realize it is a new drum? Should I put old drum back and wait til it asks-what should I do.

Our fax machine says "change drum soon" even though we changed it yesterday. What is causing this? Thanks

When you installed the new drum, there is a sheet in the box that tells you how to reset the drum life counter. Did you perform this procedure when you installed the drum?
If you don't have it just open the front cover and press options then select 1 for drum replacement.
Good Luck and thank you for using Fixya.

Drum units usually have an electronic counter that have to be reset through a sequence of key strokes on the number pad. Your local dealership should be able to give you the info to clear the drum counter

Right side of Print Out is faded. Cleaned, and Cleaned. Doesn't say to change drum/ink. What else can we try?

You can try shaking the toner cartridge to even out the toner but most likely either need a new toner cartridge or the drum is not sitting evenly as it should.
