How do I bookmark or save my place in an audio file

I have downloaded an audio book for the first time. Every time I shut off my mp3 player, and turn it back on it goes right back to the beginning. I can't figure out how to save my place, so that when I turn it back on it goes back to where I left off???

Thanks for your quick response! I've tried that....sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't. It if is off for only a short time, it will go back to where I left off, but if it's off, say overnight, it goes back to the beginning?

Try and press pause before you shut the player off.

Sorry, that's my only idea. You could try and cut the book into chapters or sections say 1 hour at the time using an audio program. It would then work like a cd and you could play the chapter or section until the end.

I can understand your frustration!! I'm listening to an audio book that's over 18 hours long...

When you are listening to music, an audiobook or movie and you need to shut the player down...

Just hold the "turn on/off" button for 3-4 seconds - it will power down.

Turn the player back on
It will come up on MUSIC
Click the OK (center black button inside the silver ring)
You should be at the LIBRARY screen
It will have "All Songs" Highlighted
HIGHLIGHT "Now Playing"
Click OK

The player will pick up right where you left off on your audio book.

ENJOY!

Of course, if your player runs out of battery power, I don't know if this will work correctly.

Creative Zen V Plus Bookmarks

A little known feature on this player is the ability to use bookmarks, up to 10 of them. Many of you listen to podcasts or audio books which may be fairly lengthy and if you have to stop in the middle of what ever you're listening to, normally when you go back to your player you would have to start all over again.<br /><br />A note about <span style="font-style: italic;">"resuming playback":</span> If you shutdown during playback of a podcast or audio book (not pausing or stopping playback first) your Zen will automatically resume playback when you start it back up.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Zen V Plus Bookmarking</span><br /><br />You can insert bookmarks during playback. Hi. I have a Samsung Sansa MP3 clip-on player. I listen to audio books all the time. I order an audio book online. It comes to me in either a regular CD or an MP3 version (however they manufacture it)....

Normally MP3 players can only play music/audio files in mp3 file format. You need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto yourcomputer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3player.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player willcreate a MP3 music file for each music track.

How can I get my audio book to start at the place I left off when I turn off the car? This is not an Audible book

The nuvi GPS line provides "bookmark" (a means of picking up the program where left off) support for the audio books in the file format (usually *.aa ) provided by www.audible.com. A subscription is required for accessing and downloading titles.

There is no provision for placing bookmarks in other file types such as *.mp3, etc. Several different file types are playable on the nuvi GPS, but only those with the .aa extension support bookmarking, and is done automatically without the need for user intervention.

How do i put audio books on my philips SA32xx? what kind of file does it need to be?

File? MP3 is standard. I myself have changed a few audio books as well as radio shows (War of the Worlds by Orson Wells) to MP3 format for my player, and have had perfect results.

Get yourself a decent FREE audio converter2_bing.gif from http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html

It's user-friendly. Just put your audio book (disc) into a drive, use the free audio converter to "rip" file(s) into a folder (while changing the format), and wait for it to finish.

TIP:
Set it to save "output files" as MP3 at 128-kbs, in whatever folder you choose... this creates a sound and rate of playback that is equal in composition to a store-bought CD. Also, remember to create a seperate folder (or sub-folder) for each project. This keeps files you want saved on your pc orderly.

Place the file(s) onto your player in the manner suggested by it's manufacturer (usually drag & drop). Que it up on the playlist and enjoy!

Downloading info from the computer to the Sansa

Here is the link to the full user manual, which will be helpful:
http://www.sandisk.com/assets/File/Downloads/user-guides/clip-usermanual.pdf

This player will only play eBooks in the loosest sort of way - the ebook MUST be in mp3 format. It will not save chapter bookmarks or play in the right order unless you manually edit the id3 tag for each chapter of the audiobook.

According to RCA you have to get a particular udiobook download. There was a free trial from somewhere in my origional package and that was the correct place for bookmarking.

No longer holds a bookmark

I've had my MuVo V100 for a year and can tell you it only saves the bookmark for the last file played. Hence, if you're into a long audiobook, don't switch to another. I've taken to making note of where I am because if the battery dies while playing it will also go back to the last saved bookmark.

TIP: if you accidentally switch away from a book you're listening to, pull the battery BEFORE turning it off -- it will revert to your last bookmark.

Order File for Audio Book

Can you rename the files? If so, try renaming the single digit chapters to have two digits - for example 1 becomes 01, 2 becomes 02, etc.
