You will need to reformat it. Unplug the device, replug in a different usb port, Go to My computer, Right click the drive and select Format. Select Quick format, and try again to use the device.

Kind Regards, ACD

How to solve the following error message: Not enough space in runtime area !!! smbios data will not be available, and then locks the keyboard. how can I flash or update the bios if I can't use the key

This may be a failed Bios update.

Also, the hard drive or some other critical component may be failing, or just the OS or hard drive corrupted. If you have files that you do not want to lose, you could try this... Pull the hard drive out, and use a "USB Hard Drive Adapter" (available fairly cheap online) to connect the hard drive to a friend's computer, and save all the personal files (documents, pictures, etc.) you can to a folder on the friend's computer or an external hard drive. That way, at least you may not lose your files.
Then, you could try to do a Factory Restore or Reload on the computer, and if that works, copy your personal files back to your newly restored computer.

Tip

Copy & Paste - Drag & Drop of Files and Folders

Do you find it difficult to drag and drop? Copy files from one folder to another OR move a file from one folder to another? Try this:
  • Open the Windows Explorer. How? Hold down the [WIN] key together with E key. Make this window size in between MAXIMUM and MINIMUM.
  • Open one more window and size it medium as before.
  • Adjust the positions so that you can see both windows side by side
  • Select a drive and folder from one window.
  • Slowly drag it and drop it to an empty space in the other window.
  • If you hold down the [CTRL] key while dragging, you will get a duplicate in the second folder.
  • OR highlight a file from one window , right click, then click on COPY; Now click into the next window, right click on an empty space and click on PASTE

Hi I'am currently trying to set up my new Verbatim usb 3.0 super speed desktop hard drive and iam finding it difficult to instal nero back up and i dont have a clue as to save my pictures and music onto it...

For backups of music/pictures, you can either user windows backup tool.
Or if you want to choose more specific files then, create a new folder within you new external HD and name it 'Back Up' within this folder create some more folders say Documents, Music and Pictures.
From here navigate to the files/Folders you want to backup and right click and copy them, next head back over to you backup folder we created and paste the files to the relevant folder whether its music pictures or documents.
If you need more just ask.

open your "my computer", click on "my document", remove some un-used files. if you have a download directory, go there, and also remove some old files. this will release some space, then you can re-install it. you can also delete all the internet explorer cache files to release more space.

My dell dimension 3000 pc has run out of memory space on the C-drive. How do I add more memory?

You can't directly add additional memory space to the C drive, but you can add additional hard drive and move the files from C drive to the additional drive. If there's enough space on D or E drive, you can move from C drive to the other drive. Note that your C drive includes your Desktop, My Documents files, My videos, My pictures, My Music etc.. So make sure you haven't saved extra files on you Desktop or My Documents. To free up some space, you can run DiskCleanup utility which is built-in with the Operating System. To do this, Right click on the C drive, Properties - Disk Cleanup... and then provide positive input, eg. yes or ok. good luck..

Had to reinstall XP. WHERE ARE MY MUSIC/MOVIE FILES??

Hi
You have a point about the free space.
Why don't use the search utility to search for your missing files, if you know the names of them which i'm sure you will do, just type the file name in the search box, click on all files and folders, then click on advanced options, select it to search in hidden files and folders and see what happens, if it finds some then you will have a general idea of where they are.

Let me know how you get on.
