I also have this same problem.

I have the same exact problem. The crusher plate is stuck in the down position. After unplugging the appliance I removed the rear plate to get a better look. When powering the unit back to the "on" position, the power screw continues to rotate, but the crusher plate remains in the down position. PLEASE HELP!

Solution to removing trash bin before it begins to smell: You need two people. UNPLUG THE APPLIANCE FIRST!!! Remove the rear plate. Manually lift the plate up with your hand (it may be a little heavy). Have the second person open the front door and remove the receptacle bin. Then carefully lower the crusher plate where it wants to go until it stops.

Why does my dishwasher stop during cycles and the cycle light blinks?

it has few functions , so break them down to this.
does water flow in correctly . hot an cold
does the pump re-cycle water well inside . reflow lots of spray.
then does it pump out correctly an flow easily into garbage disposal , check the back flow valve for stoppage if it has one {its in the large plastic pipe right before the disposal.lets water flow but compactor garbage is blocked, it sticks a lot closed }
and is the door latch secure test it by opening suddenly is all you can do.
you might have to open the door quickly to check these items like spray or pumping.

How to summarize GE Monogram - JUNK

Brother, I feel your pain, truely. I have the 'Profile' models.....same as your's, with less trim. You can buy all of your parts for much less. Type in ' GE (your number here) dishwasher repair' into a google search, and you can find a number of sources of parts and diagrams and manuals, (oh my!) Anyway, I go to a lot. I've actually had pretty good luck with my appliances. GE makes a pretty reliable appliance statistically, and parts are readily available from a variety of sources. Be thankful that you didn't buy one of the wierd off brands or a Fysher Pakyl. I see regular posts on bizarre things for them.... You really bought the best choice in my humble opinion. A lot of the time, the problem is just something loose, or stuck. Pull your timer, and check to see if you can see anything loose, or stuck, or out of the ordinary. You can't break's already broke! That's my attitude. I;ll give it one more shot before I call it dead. But I digress.... Parts on line will vary wildly in cost, so I recommend that you do your homework before throwing down the change.
Best regards, --W/D-- you can rate this solution if you like! thanx!

Have a Viking trash compactor VUC181 that will not open. Appears latch is broke. How can I get it open?

I have had this same problem and found two causes. Latch was never the problem.
#1 - Ram not in full up position. To check remove top plate and attempt to run compactor - depressing microswitch when ram is at the top. If compactor will not run you can check the ram position by turning the primary screw drive with a ratchet wrench. When ram is at the top position attempt to open the compactor drawer. The stop microswitch seems to frequently bend out of alignment - check the microswitch positioning before resecuring top plate and adjust if necessary.
#2 - Can (or other debris) is wedged in between ram and drawer. Remove back cover and carefully inspect insides of the unit - use a flashlight. Pry out any debris that may impede the drawer from opening. Attempt to open the compactor drawer.

Good luck,
Jon B.

Trash Compactor Problem

Had a similar problem with mine. I took it apart and found that the nut that is on the bottom end of the ram screw was loose. I tightened it and it fixed the problem. That was about a month ago. Now it is doing it again. I'm going to tighten it again this weekend and apply Loc-tite to the threads.

To get to the nut, you have to lay the compactor on its side and remove the plate from the bottom. You'll see a chain that goes around the motor sprocket and both ram screws. You need to tighten the nuts on the ram screws.

Hope this helps.
