Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655 36" Rear Projection HDTV
Last Saturday was watching the TV and heard a "pop" and the screen went dark. Looking in the owners manual it sounded like I lost a bulb. Had the TV about 2.5 yrs, and actually purchased the Best Buy 4 yr protection plan. Talked on the phone to schedule service, told them it sounded like a bulb, and 6 days later the part and tech were at the front door. He swapped out bulbs, we plugged in the TV and hit the power and the indicator light showed green for a second, then went back to 6 blinks. I do not know if before changing the lamp it was 6 blinks or not. I asked the teck if the number of blinks was coded, and he said yes, but wouldnt elaborate. He said that he needed to order a ballast - was most likely the problem. So looks like another week without the TV. I have read that 6 blinks may be an indication of a thermal fuse issue. Just wondering what all it may be so I can make sure to ask them to bring along possible parts so as to not keep delaying the eventual fix a week for each part. Any ideas?
Yes you are correct, I have seen this many times. 6 flashes is the thermal fuse
