Although I haven't scanned anything into my Epson RX620 for a month I now get a message on the printer display that says that a scanner error occurred and to see the documentation (which was no help). Also there is an occasional one second long grinding noise, so I keep it turned off.

Thanks for the info. I found a site that I was able to download the manual. There wasn't any information in the manual that cured the problem. The problem went away on its own. I did reinstall the printer, so maybe it won't happen again. Thanks again. Marty1932

Hi, If you haven't got the service and manual document for the printer go to www.epson.com and download the document from that website.
From your discription of your problem, it sounds as though all of your software isn't installed properly.Try re-installing your software again from disc.

Generally, the 1st best troubleshooting step is to uninstall the printer drivers, unplug the usb cable then download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer's web site, then re-connect the printer when prompted to in the installation of the new driver.

Ink out. Press the OK button to replace the cartridge. So I do and I get, Open the scanner unit, replace the appropriate ink cartridges and Close the scanner unit. This after I filled the ink cartridges.

Here are a couple of sites that will help you replace your cartridges.

My scanner :makes a loud noise when trying to scan or copy

Unless you forgot and tried to use it locked…then unlocked it after, it seems unlikely that changing the ink could directly affect anything related to the scanner. So especially if it still scans and now just makes more noise then before, we can reasonably say it isn’t a faulty locking mechanism and that the gears are probably not stripped, which would either stop it or not. So you’re looking at either something simple like the gear assembly being dry, shifted slightly, etc. or the safety by the lock that makes noise to tell you the device is locked is stuck somehow. The one can be tested by removing the little plastic safety that makes the noise when the scanner is turned on and locked; the other you might be able to test with some WD40 and see if it runs quieter.

Hi

Open the glass cover on top of printer, check a switch for lock and unlock on left or right hand side of the printer. toggle it to unlock position, turn it back on and check if there are errors still.

Keep me posted.

Epson Rx620

The user's manual said: "Turn this product off, and then back on. Then make sure the transportation lock is released. If the error message still appears, contact your dealer."

If you open the lid, there is a transporation lock on the lower left. Make sure you unlock it before you turn on the machine.

Hope this helps.
