I guess you already know the default OS is Xandros, this is a custom OS specially designed for the eeepc, this distro is not faultless and its been said the slimmed version of mint is the best OS .However your best bet is to try a manual configuration from the command line, you bring the current interface down ,then adjust it then set it up again with a set of command line instructions--advise searching through relevant distro commands for this maybe at the library

Is my Asus Eeepc 701 with Linux OS and Firefox Browser compatible with a wireless N Wifi router?

If you're thinking of buying a N router, it should also say somewhere 'a/b/g/n'. The different letters are different variants of wifi and the router page will show which is supported (if it is an N router, it will most certainly support the others). The eeepc 701 can only use wifi of a/b/g, meaning that, although it can use the lower variants supported by the N router, the actual N variant that you're paying for is redundant. With this in mind, I recommend that (unless you have another computer with N capabilities) you save your money and buy a router without N, it is probably cheaper.

Trying to connect to home wifi with netgear router and EEpc G2g

Chekc your security settings, it can be that Eeepc not correctly determine security settings. Try to set all security for your SSID manually.

Cannot connect to wifi

i had the same problem with my sisters eeepc so this is what i did

1. if u can: connect the eeepc to your router (internet box) using the Ethernet cable. the local area connection should then connect automatically if not connect through the network program on Linux.

2. if you are connected go to settings tab and then add or remove software

3. wait for the eeepc to find the new software (may take a bit of time), once it has found all new possible updates go to the settings tab in the add/remove software program and scroll down until you find Wireless update/patch or something similar.

4. click install and the ok, it will then dowload the new update (don't take long) and install it

5. once the update has completed it will ask you to reboot the eeepc do this and when you log back on click on the wireless network icon

6. find your SSID and enter any security and whatever

7. you should be online after that

When i bought the computer i had no broblem connecting to the internet, now all of a sudden i cant connect.

Have you changed the configuration settings of your network?
And have you updated your system? There is an update that deals with the difficulty of Eeepc connecting to WPA protected networks.
Also, my experience tells me that although the Eeepc detects the networks easily, it doesn't always connect and it is prone to blockages, that force us to recconnect. So I set my definitions manually on my Eeepc and everything runs smoothlier.

No wireless connection

I am assuming you're referring to the Asus Eee PC 701SD... if so, try the following:1. Check the hotspot to see what kind of IP address it is using [are they manually configured, or is there a DHCP server that assigns IP addresses] 2. Check your 701 and make sure its network connectivity conforms with the settings on the hotspot
