Question about Panasonic PanaFax UF-8000 Laser Fax

Error Message: "Contact Your Dealer Printer Error E04-01" - What does that mean?

We just bought this Fax machine from an online dealer (we started using the Fax machine on Monday - 4 days ago). I sent out a fax this morning, and now it has this error message on it: Contact Your Dealer Printer Error E04-01. We've had 2 other UF-8000's for the past 2 years, and we've never seen this error on either of them.

Please let me know what we should do!

Thank you!

You can try a LBP fuser reset and LBP error log clear . this might fix the problem your having.

It sounds like you have a problem with your heater lamp which may have broke or cracked in shipping. unplu machine from wall outlet for a couple of minutes then plug in and turn on and listen for the warm up cycle to go through it's process. if the error code comes up immediately after turn on the it's your thermal fuse or a thermistor. if after warm up cycle then it's a heater lamp.

Fax machines only keep a log of phone numbers for the last 50 transactions, not the actual fax. Sorry

Need to confirm details of when and what number a fax was sent approx 15 days ago.

The only way to check old transfer info for faxes is by printing out the journal. The way to do this varies from fax to fax, but most often is either with it's own button "reports" (and then "fax journal"), or by choosing "print reports" in the regular menu. The journal is emptied during power outs, so if you have had a power failure since, you cannot get the information. Additionally, the only info you will get from this is to where/from where the fax was sent, and if it was successful. Any information on the actual fax content is unavailable.

Real Time Transmission
When you are sending a fax, the machine will scan originals into memory before
sending. Then, as soon as the phone line is free, the machine will start dialing and
sending the fax. If memory becomes full, the machine will send the document in real
time (even if REAL TIME TX is set to OFF).
Sometimes you may want to send an important document immediately, without
waiting for memory transmission. You can set REAL TIME TX to ON.
1 Place the original face down in the ADF.
2 Press Menu, 2, 2, 6.
3 To change the default setting, and then
press or to select ON (or OFF) and
then press Set. Go to Step 5—OR—For
the next fax transmission only, press or to select NEXT FAX ONLY,
and then press Set.
4 For the next fax only, press or to select ON (or OFF), and then press Set.
5 Press 1 if you want to select additional settings. The LCD returns to the SETUP SEND
menu—OR—Press 2 if you are finished choosing settings, and then go to Step 6.
6 Enter fax number and then press Fax Start.

Fax machine won't answer and pickup. I have to manually pick up the receiver and press start. This just started a few days ago.

You probably have it in the fax/tel or TAD mode. Press the butoon on the top right side of the keyboard marked "mode" until the light above it is on "fax" only. This mode (fax/tel) is for phones/faxes hooked to an answering machine. The "fax" mode puts in into the direct answer mode as a fax machine.

Retrieval of fax from memory

No. And even if you could, it would simply list the # the fax was received from, and the # of pages. The actual fax is not retained.

Doesnt Know How To Use Fax

Very easy. Make sure you have a phone cord plugged from the wall to a port in the back of the machine marked "line". Place you document in the feed, dial the fax number of the other machine and press start. Your machine will dial the other machine, make some beeping noises then scan your document. If it feeds through ok, and you do not get an error message in the display, then it has been sent!
