Slow Printing under Adobe CS3 in OS X 10.4 environment

After upgrading from Adobe Creative Suite CS to CS3, printing has slowed down tremendously on my computer. It takes 30min or so to print a document that would come out within 30 seconds on an HP Laserjet. Does anybody else experience a slow down with their 4N after upgrading to CS3? Are there alternate printer drivers I could try as a possible work-around?

Printing to PDF from Office 2008 is tremendously slow. 250k presentation takes hours (had to let it run overnight). PDF settings are 'standard' as per the factory stadards. This is CS3 on Mac OSX 10.5.2 w/ intel core 2 duo and 2G ram (MacBook).

This appears to be related to CS3... if you print with CS2 your performance will come back. I suspect it has to do with the direct support of PDF in 10.3 printing subsystem

I had the same issue with 3 users and was able to solve it with a really easy fix. Set the dock to hide itself. I know it sounds weird, but there's a new print progress bar added to the CS3 icons, and that seems to be where the problem is caused. I'm assuming you have an Intel Mac?

My canon MX882 printer has become VERY slow at printing pictures. Almost undo able

This all comes down to file size of the picture and the quality you are printing in. Check your printer settings and see if you are printing in least, normal or best quality. Also look at the actual size in pixels of the picture you are printing.

Epson Printers - Slow Printing Under Vista & Windows 7

I had been trying to resolve a slow printing problem for months. The client had an Epson printer and a Windows 7 iCore duo computer that slowed down to and absolute crawl while printing photographs.
Nothing seemed to work. Not clearing the drives of temporary files, or updating the drivers.
Then I ran a program called Process Monitor. I kept seeing the SPLWOW64.exe spike the CPU usage to 100%. The file it was processing was an Epson file called EPAUDF01.AUD.
After updating the Progam used for printing to a 64 it version, SPLWOWO64 went to 34%, but the system was still taking three minutes for each step of the printing process, loading, selecting size and selecting orientation.
When I did a search online under the Epson file name, I found out that this file is a temporary audit file and should be removed.
"Epson printers create an audit file called EPAUDF01.AUD in C:\ProgramData\Epson\Printer."
Once the file was deleted, printing was fast again.
Each time the printer is used, this file is created, but, it doesn't slow down. Somehow the old audit file got stuck in this folder and gummed up the works.
If your Epson is printing slow, fimd this file and delete it.
I created a shortcut to the folder on the desktop "just in case".

Slow printing

Check that the default setting for print quality on your printer driver hasn't been set to "Fine".

In your Opertaing System, find your printer (in XP it's under Control Panel / Printers and Faxes) and select Properties. This should then bring up the settings for the driver.

Fine printing quality takes over double the time "Normal" quality takes so would considerably slow your printing.

Printer takes forever to print

How is the printer connected to your computer(s)?
If it is USB or network. Try a different cables.

Does your computer run slow also? Low disk space can cause print jobs to print slowly.

Network issues can cause slow printing as well. If your printer is on network and there is a mismatch of 10/100 Mbps speed or Half/Full duplex, the printing can be slow.

If your OS is Windows, remove the printer from Printers and Faxes. Uninstall the driver package if installed separately. Download the latest drivers and install them and reinstall the printer.

Why does my printer prints a few pages and it slows down to a snail pace

The cause and solution may include one or more of the following:
  • The print head temperature is too high. Make sure the printer is not placed in direct sunlight or is not operating in a high-temperature environment.
  • Cooling vents are blocked or dirty. Check the cooling vents and clear any dirt or obstructions.
  • There are too many applications running on your computer. Close unnecessary software applications.
  • The computer is not running efficiently. Consider upgrading your computer to meet the recommended system requirements.

NOTE: When printing a large number of prints, printing may slow down to prevent the print head from overheating.
See your printer user,s guide for more information.

10 % Memory problem showing my printer and slow

In the printing process, there a stage called spooling. This is where the data to be printed is cached into your system, so that you can print it even without having to leave the source application open. However, when you are low on RAM (or computer memory), the spooling and printing process slows down since the system is finding it hard to transport the data due to the bottleneck. Closing running applications (such as your web browser, music player, media player, games, and such) would definitely help ease out this one.

Slow Printing

it may just be a slow printer head, maybe an upgrade is in order. look on the box for page printing speed.
it may also be that you have the resolution set too high for basic printing. try turning this down slightly.

hope this helps.

Printer: Canon PIXMA MP610 Operating system: Mac OS 10.4 Problem: Printing 4x6 photos is excruciatingly slow from iPhoto and Photoshop CS3. I thought it may have been something to do wireless printing,...

When printing from programs like that, usually the "BEST" option is selected for the print quality.. Try going into the preferences and choosing a lower quality.

If that doesn't help, for Photoshop, you can "save for web and devices", choose PNG and then save to desktop, and use another program to print the file. Or when in the print dialogue, make sure "printer manages colour management"

Not too sure about Iphoto print settings, but there may be something in there.
