Question about Compaq Keyboard
I need to replace my keyboard on the presario 2500. How do I remove the existing keyboard. Thanks, Nick
This is how I did it on my 2596us. Not sure if it is the same with all 2500 series.
Computer off, battery out and unplugged.
Remove two HIGHEST screws on the back part of the laptop then lay the monitor flat and gently pry up the sound bar at one end try to remove it.
There should be 4 screws holding the keyboard in above the F-keys and prt sc key. After removing those you will be able to slide the keypad forward, lift the keypad up at the SPACEBAR then undo the ribbon connection (lift sides of plastic holder up to release).
The hardest part is getting the ribbon cable back into the holder, but even that is not too difficult. Installation is reverse of removal.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
