Is the Hard Drive NEW and unused ?
If YES, XP should install no problem.

Please note that your system partition needs to be a primary partition (usually the first partition that shows up in the list), not a logical partition.
The partition should be at least 10 GB in size. Make sure that all the data you need from this partition is copied elsewhere, because it will be deleted.
Once you have selected the right partition selected, press ENTER. You will see the next "you already have a system installed" screen only if you already have Windows installed on this partition. If you are installing on a brand-new hard drive, skip to Step 7.

You should not download, ist done only by formating its not a simple work .If you have a xp cd,put it into your drive then restart.if your your booting device is cd drive then you can see that"press any key to boot from cd"(press any key).then a window is come.after some time you can see you older version of xp (if you want to repair your system press R or press esc to go to next step) .After few seconds you get a license agreement press F8 key
NEXT STEP is Partition process .Select suitable size for your driver and select C folder and press F. another window comes. in that select"format your system with NTFS file system.
then formating takes place -> coping new file -> reboots
Then not press any key.give freedom to load freely Then another installation window comes
in that a box come to enter product key. after some time another box comes .In that box dont select any option click 'next next next' Then installation will do own After windows installation, install mother board cd now you can install wanted soft wares

Hi
Your HDD is maybe damaged and you won't be abble to install a new os on it .
Otherwise , if you really can't format it , try extracting it from your desktop and connecting it to a healthy computer .
Reinstall it back in your desktop afterwards and launch the W XP install disc .
Regards .

Step by step tell me how i can format my windows vista lapy

Are you sure you want to format and install clean, or do you want to reset to factory defaults, the way it was when the computer was new? If you want to restore, it depends on make and model.

To format:

Boot from your Vista DVD
Follow prompt up until it asks where to instal
Highlight your current Vista installation
Select Advance
Select Format

Step by Step screen shots of install process:

My folder option is not working.

1. Open Start>>Run and type cmd and press enter. This will open a command prompt window. On this command prompt window type the following steps.

2. type the drive name which is nt opening ...
for example : if  "C" is not opening means ..

                      type    :    C: "press enter"

3. type   attrib -r -h -s autorun.inf

4. type   del autorun.inf

5. now type d: and press enter for d: drive partition. Now repeat steps 3 and 4. Similarly repeat step 5 for all your hard disk partition.

Restart your system and your trouble will be fixed

Uninstall xp

You can remove service pack 2 from within add/remove programmes, you will not lose any documents, but you will lose the udated security patches which is not recommended. If you mean you wish to remove XP SP completely, obviously the files and everything you have installed on c drive will be deleted as you can only save docs etc within an operating system, as c: is just a partition on your hard drive the files reside within the operating system. If you are upgrading to another operating system my advice would be to use a dual boot system and install the other operating system on a seperate partition of your drive, but you would have to have a fair knowledge of pc operating system installation processes.
