Question about Dryers
RE:CANDY NOVA CDC 266UK
Please can you advise...My machine is not heating/drying the clothes - although blowing air and going round..also the filter light stays on and I have cleaned both the filters ....WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST..????
I have ENORMOUS backloads of washing - with two new grandchildren to boot ...actually I am not booting them yet but may if they start disappearing under the piles of clothes !
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated - I am based in Islington , London.
1) I cannot afford to call an engineer out and pay him just to tell me to scrap it.
2) If parts and labour come to too much it makes more sense to start saving towards a new replacement.
Thank you 'Grandma' Willow
P.S.The guarantee ran out a couple of months ago!
P.P.S. If viable to get parts and mend I will call an engineer to fit ....if ness! ... yes I am that poor... but able bodied and willing ...with female brain.....?!?
Most likely possibilities on heating problem. All are listed from most likely to least likely.
1. Thermal Fuse (Located near blower housing)
4. Heating Element
5. Ignitor (Gas Dryers Only)
All parts can be tested with an ohm meter for continuity. Most parts are under $20 with exceptions for the heating element and ignitor. Considering that you had a technician come out to your house, charge would be roughly $120-200. A dryer's life span is usually about 10 years; give or take. For a diagram to locate all parts within your dryer, refer to www3.sears.com with the model number of your dryer. Model number found on the side panel when you open the door of the unit. If you need more assistance, just comment and I will get back on later today or tomorrow.
