After faithfully working regularily for over 30-years, the electric motor is binding on start-up - with increasing reluctance I can gently hit the case and get it to start. I suspect the windings are burning out on the motor, as it just 'hums' when locked up and I quickly turn it off. Where can I get it repaired (prefer Louisville, KY; could do St. Louis, MO or Memphis, TN), if possible? And idea of estimated costs?

I have been unable to find a site where you can download a Smith Corona typewriter manual. However, you can try going to Will Repair Service. They carry manuals of every Smith Corona typewriter ever made, and you should be able to find a manual for your particular typewriter there. I find them to be a very helpful and trustworthy typewriter shop.
YES, SMITH CORONA DOES STILL EXIST!
Best of luck to you! :-)
