Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

Trying to reset Bios Password

I'm having the same problem,..well sort of as the other fella, except my Acer 5100 won't even allow me in,..it's either a NTLDR is missing, or enter password. The laptop worked great until last week when this suddenly happened..., Grrrr,..(pulling hair out)...the laptop was given to us, so tried reinstalling with recovery discs I had to send away for,..nothing works!...so I tried to look for the 3 prong thingy near battery and also motherboard,... nothing! Please can you help me???

Have you tried not typing in a password?

Something must have changed...either you installed some software and it changed your ntldr file...or you removed a shared file.
If the computer was given to you..and there's nothing on it that you need...I suggest doing a clean install...wipe everything out and start from scratch.
This way, you have the computer set up the way YOU want it..

If there are no important files that you need...a clean install sometimes is the best avenue of defense...yes...it does take time to install (an hour or so)...but Acer has all the drivers for your computer and you can get it back up and running clean if need be..

Hi

Is it just the sign into windows password or the hd bios password

if the sign into windows password its worth trying to start up in safe mode sign in as administror and i think ( not sure ) that you can then remove the password by changing user information
