Hello Mayfield.

Since that your computer is still booting. the processor, memory is good. The only problem you encountered is cannot hold the time when you totally unplug the unit to the wall. iN that case, maybe something wrong with your mboard. maybe there some connection or jumper that was unnoticeally remove which make the battery open circuit. Please refer to the manual of the maboard for some jumper setting.

Long beeps at start up

Indicates problem with Ram Memory.

Computer on a table, computer unplugged from power, FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.

Remove all Ram Memory modules, ("Stick'), clean the gold plated contact pins with an eraser.
If you use an eraser on the end of a pencil, and not a solid eraser, refrain from letting the metal band of the pencil, touch the gold plated contact pins.

Rub up, and down on EACH contact pin, BOTH sides. Doesn't take much pressure, or rubbing.
In fact when you are done it may seem like you have done nothing at all.
The contact pins may not be bright, and shiny. I assure you that you have cleaned them. Doesn't take much 'corrosion' to make a bad contact surface.

Use air to remove the eraser dust. You can use a can of compressed air for computers if available, or air pressure from your mouth will be sufficient.
Reinstall all Ram Memory modules.

Handle the Ram Memory modules by the BODY.
The Body is everywhere on the Ram Memory module EXCEPT the gold plated contact pins at the bottom.
The Body is coated with a see-through protective plastic.

Anti-Static Precautions:

Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit), the delicate hardware components inside a computer.
Relieve your body of Static BEFORE reaching inside your computer.

Computer on a table, computer Unplugged from power, computer case open;
TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case.
This action will relieve your body of Static.

IF you leave your computer in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again upon your return.

My phone stopped telling me when people have recieved the messages. how do i get it to show it again?

I assume you are talking about your cell phone. You didn't tell us the model of the phone or who the service provider was. Due to that fact that there are several phones and companies that offer this feature and each has it's own procedure for correcting the issue I recommend you contact your service provider about the matter. In most cases you can contact them by dialing *611 or 611 from the handset and they can give you step by step directions on how to get this fixed.

My toshiba equium a200 does not charge even though the charger is plugged in. Is this a charger or a bettery problem?

This fault could be battery or charger related. As a matter of fact, it could be coming from both components too.
The simplest way to go about this is try using your charger on a compatible laptop or machine and see if it works. If it does, then you can be sure that it is coming from your battery.
On the other hand, you can remove your battery and try using it with another compatible machine. This is not very advisable as damage could be done to the battery in the process of removing and fixing it in a new machine again. It is best advised that you try testing it with a charger you have confirmed works properly.

There is a green light that comes on and now my computer will not turn on. what do i do?

hello tchief hi, I will give you the three computer parts that you need to check and may sure they are installed and tested properly before powering the computer.
  1. The power Supply, to check this part, you need to know if the fan is blowing. no blowing fan no power. You should have connected this on power outlet or AVR, on motherboard 20/24 pin and 4pin 12 volt connector, (you can test this by unplugging the 20/24 connector then short the green and black wire)
  2. Memory. you should clean the gold terminal, use a pencil erase to clean the gold contact. As you install you should hear a snap sound or just make sure they are connected properly.
  3. Video Card, make sure that this card is connected properly. SNUG AND FIT.
Now power it on Still No success? Do the above several times. Still? If you have Spare memory, try them, (are you sure the memory is good?)

Good day sir, hi. you need these 7 things to make your pc start, make sure they are good.

first unplug your pc. open the side panel to access the motherboard. Remove all connections to the motherboard.
  1. Remove and check the memory module, make sure that the memory terminals are clean, you can use an eraser to clean the contacts. much better if you have new ones. or test the memory modules on another PC to confirm that they are good, then snap it in place, you should hear clicks as you place it on the slot.
  2. Clean the memory slot with a clean paint brush, there should be no foreign objects inside the slots, visual inspection is necessary.
  3. make sure you PS is good. Plug in the 20/24 pin connector and the 4 pin 12v connector firmly.
  4. Make sure that the processor is installed properly. the fan is connected on the fan power port.
  5. connect the monitor to the vga slot, (or if you have graphics card)
  6. connect a keyboard,
  7. and a pc speaker (or the thumb speaker)
Power on your PC.
monitor your PC speaker.

You should hear a beep, (good) one long and 2 or 3 short beeps, problem with the display card, continuous beeps, system board cannot detect memory.

monitor your keyboard.

You should see 3 sets of led light, numlock+caps lock+scroll lock, and a few seconds, 1 led light, the num lock only.

Detecting dvd drive. biostar P4M900-M7 SE One day i smashed my pc , coz of a blue screen, stating bump in phyiscal memory. HAD IT FOR 2+ YEARS. And maybe i still have it, but anyway, i took it all apart,...

Hi Tom,
I suggest that you use the one marked IDE1, unless you have your hard drive on that port. I assume it's one of the sata's. But, make sure that your DVD drive has it's pin's set right. If it's going to be the only DVD drive on the machine, and your hard drive is a sata, then make that DVD drive the master pin set, if your Hard drive is a ide drive, then make sure that your hard drive is set to master and then your dvd will be set to slace. If you place the hard drive on the white slot, and the dvd drive on the green or colored slot, then you can choose cable select on both drives. But when you make it Master and Slave it doesn't matter which IDE you use, the pin tell the computer what is what.

Good Luck,

The fact that it turns on is not a sign that is working properly.

Hi melnavz,

Make sure that the battery hold firmly in the mother board and should no be drain out or busted to hold the time setting in the cmos. this is the only things that you need to observe. if the system keeps on asking the setting then battery is the main problems that cannot hold the time setting in the cmos.

tell me if problem still occur.

Strange rectangles on startup

Verify that all cables, connectors, components and devices are where they should be and fitted snugly to their mate/counterpart.

It could either be you video or your memory. If your PC has a built-in video then it is in all probability the memory. Either way, try removing and cleaning the gold contacts/pins using a pencil eraser. Thereafter clean the slot(s) where they are inserted using a clean paint brush or a disposable toothbrush. When reseating/re-inserting, pls make sure that you hear an audible click/snapping sound that assures you that the component was placed back in properly. At other times, wiggling the memory (or video card) a bit also helps.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
