Question about Dewalt 18 Volt Compact Drill Kit
DeWalt 18Volt model DW 929 Chuck is the 510 series
The problem is I can not close the chuck. It will close about 1/3 and it jams tight. what is the problem? firstname.lastname@example.org
I had the locking screw come loose in the center and bottom of the chuck it has a left hand thread and is a torx head . It had backed out and prevented the chuck from closing.

The DW 929... Time for a new chuck.
The DC925s... the Rohm Keyless Self Tightening Chuck.... If you can clamp the short end of a large size hex key in the jaws and put the other end in a vise. Shift the drill into gear setting #1 (low, high torque). Grab the battery end and twist the whole drill very slowly counterclockwise and it should come loose.
If you have a broken jaw or something else where you can't clamp on a hex key... then not sure. The chuck can be completely disassembled but have never tried while it's on the drill.

If you close chuck as you can & see if the jaw are sticking out.use a hammer & tap the chuck jaw, then open & close the chuck do it again x2. remove the screw & there you go
