You can possibly restore your system by following these steps.

Step 1: Turn off the PlayStationhard disc is corrupted - 2_bing.gif 3 by holding the Power button on the front of the unit till the Power light is red.

Step 2:
Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, meaning the PlayStation 32_bing.gif is powering on.

  1. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).
Step 3:
  1. Touch and hold the Power button, you will hear the first beep, again for the PlayStation 3 to power on.
  2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
  3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, "Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button."
Connect a USB cable to the controller and the PlayStation 3 and press the PS button to enter Safe Mode.
  • Then you will see the Safe Mode menu.

  • This last step can possibly erase the data you have stored on your harddrive, so I recommend the options in this order...if one of them works stop and don't try the others, that way you may be able to retain your data.
    1. Restore Default Settings
    2. Restore File System
    3. Rebuild Database
    4. Restore PS3 System

Hi All, My PS3 hard disc is corrupted and I would like to take back up of my saved data before I format the hard disc. Please suggest on how to go about.

If the hard disc is corrupted, that you will be unable to retrieve your saved files. If you have them saved to sony's cloud server, then you are fine to reformat, if not, they I'm sorry, but there is no fix for your issue, you will lose you all of your saved data.

Playstation 3 hard disk files corrupted???

    hey ash,

ps3 Hard drive needs to be manually reformatted and checked for bad sectors.

as what youve said, you already formatted it and yet it still says there is a corrupt system file.

when i say "manually formatted" you have to clearly take the hard drive out and format it using another pc or ps3.

Playstation 3 message "hard disc file system is corrupted..."

Your hard drive may have gone bad. Maybe try using a different hard drive. Once you put it in, the system data should install itself.
