hi invalid Sim occurs because your mobile is locked to particular network due to this it accept only that particular network if you insert other provider sim card it shows invalid sim to remove this you should unlock your mobile we can unlock using software, cable ,codes etc but codes seems to be simple compared to other since it saves our time a lot many online sites render unlock codes i got the unlock codes from here http://www.onlinegsmunlock.com/motorola-a1000/rs7wp9/ here you select the model of your mobile and country provider to which your mobile get locked and get the unlock codes from them.
To New Guyxxx: For me too similar problem comes rarely, I wl restart the phone and the problem will b rectified automatically. Try this, if u still face the problem You just remove your memory card frm phone and plug it again. Also ensure the memory card is working properly.
To Guest: You have to use Motorola phone toolkit to copy and backup the contacts and messages. For E6 to be detected as Mass storage, the drivers are preinstalled in XP, so no need of drivers.
k, having an a1000 i have had similiar problems except in my case could not recognise a memory card the same as the 1 i alrdy had in it, i also had a problem witgh the slot for the memory card, which in ur case cud be that simple that u have overlooked it, my suggestion is to try different sims in it and see if a network works, if none do try getting ur card and making sure its stuck into the slot, im sorry this isnt much help but cud possibly be a pcb error or may have a problem with the receptor.
Here in the UK most markets (out door street type) will have a stall who will unlock most handsets for about 5gbp (or 10usd) you could also ask three themselves to give you the unlock code, they do so here in the UK and europe. Tell them you are to travel abroad and wish to use a local sim card to make calls. Also do a google search for "A1K" and go to the site at top of list "machman" they have downloads of firmware which is unlocked.
