My protron dvd recorder is saying disc error, when

My protron PD-DVR100 dvd recorder is saying disc error, when I try to play a disc that I have already recorded. When I try to put a new dvd+r or RW the Disc is saying disc error, Is there some way I can reset this dvd recorder.

This could a dirty lazer bulb try cleaning with a damp shammy leather allow to dry for a few min's . if this does not clear fauly lazer unit will need replacing

No power on protron pd-dvr100
There is something you can try first.
With leaving something like this condensation tends to form on the circuit boards.

To remove this put the dvd into a warm room, plug it in for 2 hours, and see if thats cured it.

Can't play recorded dvds on other dvd players
are you finalizing the discs after recording? some recorders do this automaticaly others have it as an option you have to select.. without finalization they will play on your own recorder but not on other machines.

I used my pd-dvr100 to record a copy of a home made dvd. I do not know the format of the source disc. The process went well. The PD-DVD100 WILL PLAY THE DISC. However, the disc will not play on the player...
Have you tried to make sure the disc is finalized. Second check the manufacture website to make sure that the dvd player you are trying to play it in is compatible with the disc type that you recored on. Veryfy this by looking at the disc type on the dvd commonly refered to as +R or -R
