Trouble with singer ultralock 14SH654

Hello! The other day I was sewing along and my machine just stopped midstitch. The light still comes on so it obviously has power but I can't get it to work. I've taken the foot pedal apart but I can't tell if anything is wrong. Need help please.

Was sewing along, straight stitchin, machine simply stopped! Like no power anymore but light is on! 1 expert:foot pedal bad but PEDAL IS POWERING MOTOR! Correct resistance ohms?

If it's a mechanical machine (not computerized), it may need a good cleaning and oiling. Consult your owner's manual and use only good quality sewing machine oil.

My Huskylock #905 serger overheated and stopped. I unplugged it and let it rest for a day. Still does not run. Light comes on but will not sew

I would try to oil it with sewing machine oil. If that doesn't work, you may have to get a new peddle. My peddle had to be replaced. It just stopped working.

Red check light is on

So, turn it off and unplug the machine. Take your work out...
Remove the bobbin cover... look for thread balls, knots, etc.
Move the needle forward with the hand wheel. Does that feel normal? It might need adjusting and the check light and stop could be something to keep you from breaking the machine.

Stopping at midstitch while free motion quilting.

did you try cleaning the drive area of the machine? you may have a lot of buildup of dust, thread, fabric, etc. that nay be interferring with the mechanical drive. You might have to remove the cover to get to the inside to clean. Use a small computer vac to clean up and a small dry paint brush to clean parts. Or get a professional cleaning.

Stops sewing

Sounds like the motor is stressing and a cut-off is operating to protect from overheating........ensure the bobbin area under the needle plate is clean and clear of lint, and that there is no thread jammed around in this area, also at the take-up arm and the cams at the far left of the upper shaftnear the needlearm.........if there is thread wrapped around anything, unwind it VERY CAREFULLY .....DO NOT pull and break it, be patient and move the handwheel gently in reverse while gripping the trapped thread, working it free slowly.

Of course it may be that the motor is old and needing a replacement, but as this machine is quite elderly and may have other complicating issues, you would be best to have someone take a look at it for the best decision of fix or replace, if it comes to that point.
