Hello-   The 'hum' is the motor trying to turn. If the dishwasher has been getting louder recently, then the motor bearing has failed.  The solution for this problem is to replace the motor.  Occasionally the sump gets clogged, but this rarely stops the motor.  The motor is about 125$, and is easy to replace if you can remove and re-install a dishwasher.                       Please acknowledge this posted solution. Thanks- Ed

Water fills the bottom of dishwasher, lower spray arm still seems to turn/spray but no movement or water coming out of uppoer spray arm. We took apart the lines to see if there was blockage -- none.

If there is no blockage, your pump may need to be rebuilt or replaced. If your machine uses a solenoid valve to control weather the pump is washing or draining. The drain valve may be stuck somewhat open, diverting wash water down the drain. Or the wash valve may be not opening fully. Different machines work in different ways.

Spots are left on the dishes after washing. Dishes don't look clean

Hi

If you are noticing that the dishes are not clean, then there are a few things to check for. Check the soap powder if it's kept in a dry environment. Also try replacing the powder with something like a gel or liquid. Next thing to check for is the water pressure and fill valve. Check if the water is filling in and the spray arms are throwing the water with enough pressure. Try and listen to the sound if you hear a proper spraying action sound.

If it seems as a low water pressure then check the fill valve. Now, check if dishwasher is draining the water or not. While the dishwasher is working check whether the dishwasher is draining and there is not much left out water after the cycle is complete. Try cleaning the spray arm with a soft brush. The water temperature plays a major role in cleaning of dishes. The temp should be between 125 and 150 F for dishwasher to clean the dishes. Hope this helps...

No water flowing into drum, water supply is fine, just humms

My Samsung washer was not filling with water after cleaning the debris filter. All I did to fix it was to dump a half gallon of water into the tumbler, then I ran the beginning of the rinse cycle and it worked. It seems like the pump needed to be primed.

Washer will not spin, filled up with water and stopped. When turn back on, it just humms then stops

The most likely cause is a blocked pipe or drain motor. This could be caused by an obstruction, such as a screw, hair clip or coin jamming the impellor inside the pump. Firstly, try to manually empty the machine of water. Take the drain pipe and lower it to a position below the machine itself. This should cause a syphoning action. Uou may have to give the end of the pipe an initial **** to start the flow. Remember to give the pipe a clean first with hot water and don't swallow any of the water.

Maytag MAH6700AWW Humming Sound

Can you see water in the drum ?,No water = no action Check water supply

If there is water in the drum does it drain out at some point.

Sequence = Fill, Agitate, Heat, Wash, Drain, Spin etc.

If it fills then it may be a belt has snapped and the drum cannot turn , need to take the covers off to look.

Remove power before taking covers off !!!!

If the belt is OK then it may be the heater which has gone open circuit, try a cold wash or a rinse cycle to test that.

Oh No

ANTI-FLOODING CONTROL SYSTEM ALARM [A L 4] Leds [LD9] + [LD10] This control system is operative during the washing phases only, and not in the water fill phases, in which case is it connected to the safety device (see paragraph 7.4.1 ?Water Fill Time-out?). A float-actioned mechanical sensor positioned on the bottom of the appliance trips a microswitch which is connected in series to the fill solenoid, thus disconnecting the solenoid. Intervention of the sensor is detected by the electronic control board, which actions the drain pump for 1 minute, after which an alarm condition is generated. Possible causes: a. Water leakage from the tub/sump seal b. Water leakage from the various couplings (motor, OR on the duct to the upper spray arm, etc.) c. Floating sensor jammed mechanically/microswitch faulty

Losing water pressure in pump?

Shellybabe, these GE dishwasher pumps have a habit of sticking when not in use for a while. It sounds like you have been washing but not good. If you remove the toe panel (lower) you will see the pump motor in the center. If the vanes in the back center of the motor turn freely, your pump is not stuck. If they wont turn, put pressure on them until the pump frees up. You also want to make sure that the fill valve is letting in enough water. The water should be just below the heating element after the initial fill. If you are not sure try adding 2 addition quarts of water to the machine after the initial fill and see if the circulation is better. Remember to unplug or kill the power to the dishwasher when checking the motor vanes...Catriver..post back.
