Treat yourself to a mulicard reader. Ensure it reads the Sony memory stick your camera uses. It should come with a USB cable to connect the reader to your PC.

They're not terribly expensive, photo retailers or ebay should be able to supply.

My dsc-w310 wont connect on my computer, it says switch on usb mass storage which is on? what to do?

Sometimes it is easier to remove the memory card from your camera and connect directly using a card reader. Modern computers often have a card reader built in for the popular cards like and SD card. Sony often have 'Sony Memory Stick' cards. This would usually mean you have to purchase a card reader separately unless it is a Sony laptop. Card readers are less than 10 GBP each often only 5 GBP. Connect card reader cable to a USB port open windows explorer or my computer, create a new folder on your computer and then click and drag the photos from the card reader to the folder on your computer.

How can I backup files from a SD Card before formatting it ?

Put the card into a card reader, either built-in to your computer or attached via USB. The card will now appear to your computer as another hard drive. You can then use the operating system's drag&drop to copy the card contents to a folder on your hard drive. Or you can use any backup program.

How to copy pics to pc?

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Can I import camera pics to a Dobly Home Theater laptop, by Acer?

First a nitpick: your memory card is Memory Stick Pro Duo, it's not an SD card. Secure Digital is one specific type of memory card, distinct from xD, CF, Memory Sticks, and other memory card types.

Okay, not that I've got that off my chest, yes you can import pics to your laptop. Just connect a card reader to the USB port and then put your Memory Stick into the reader. Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files.

Card readers should be available at just about any department, electronics, or office-supply store. One important point to remember is to make sure you get a card reader that can read Memory Stick Pro Duos. If you get, for example, an SD card reader, it won't do you any good.

My cam can not be recognized by my laptop... its the first time this happens... i can not transfer my pics to my laptop

Hi,
Try camera in another USB port of laptop and also check it with another USB cable, if still problem not solved then plug camera in any other computer to make sure that it is problem of camera.
If camera still wont work in other computer then its USB port got defective, please use memory card reader to transfer pictures in computer, take out memory card from camera, put it in memory card reader and plug it in USB port of computer.
Thanks.

Get an error warning when I plug in the cable to upload pictures. It says there is a power surge in the usb port, unplug immediately. So I cannot upload the pics.

I took pictures on my Sony Cybershot that I want to upload to my computer. I cannot use my memory card reader to upload the pics. How do I plug the cord into the computer? I cannot find a port on the...

Are you saying you have a separate card reader but it doesn't work? Or are you speaking about a card reader slot on the computer that doesn't work? Card readers have slots for different cards on one end and a USB plug on the other that you plug into a USB slot on your computer. f1def5b.jpg
