Goto the manufacturers website , download instructions for your model and re-install.
normally you have to press the hard reset until the lights come on , then it will be back to factory default .
you then continue using the manufacturers install instruction.

To reset the Linksys back to the default settings -
Press and hold the pinhole RESET button at the back of therouter with the power ON for 20 secs. then release the RESET button. To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to beconfigured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the wireless cards in allthe laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wirelesssettings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicate with your wirelessrouter. Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer. Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL http://192.168.1.1 The default login = admin The default PW = admin You can protect your router by changing the default PW (write it down and putit in a safe place) Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption. Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.
Generally you don't need any, you can program the router simply by connecting a cable to port 1, then typing 192.168.1.1 in the address line of internet explorer, this will get you a log on prompt, leave username blank, password is: admin
From there you can configure the router.
If you still want the Software, you can download it here
Well a cable modem is always on and requires no username or password. So that's not a problem. The linksys router, unless you changed it, will have a web address of http://192.168.1.1. The default user/password is admin/admin. If you can't get into it with that, then there is a small reset button on the back of the router. You must hit the button with a pen for about 5 seconds, the try going back to the web address. You can then access and configure the router..... just make sure to power cycle the modem and router after configuration. Make sure the modem is ready (internet or ready light is on) before you turn the router back on.
Plug another Ethernet cable into one of the available ports
Plug the other end of that same cable into an Ethernet port on your PC
LinkSys Router Configuration
LinkSys routers now ship with a Setup Wizard which is intended to simplfy basic configuration tasks.
We do not recommend the LinkSys Setup Wizard for two reasons:
The Setup Wizard is not significantly easier that the regular configuration menus
If you use the Setup Wizard, you will end up learning two interfaces for your LikSys router instead of just one
Instead, we recommend simply starting your web browser and jumping into the configuration.
Once your web browser is open, go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password. Logging in to a LinkSys Router
The username is either blank or "admin" and the default password is "admin".
Once you are past the login screen, you are able to access (and change) a plethora of configuration options for your router.
Don't be worried by the enormous number and variety of options, your LinkSys router ships with default settings that enable it to work right out of the box in most environments.
From here the configuration options that you choose are largely up to your own personal preference.
If this is a wireless router, we recommend that you consider setting an SSID to identify the router as your own and configuring WEP to encrypt your wireless traffic.

Hi There Joecohn, Definitely, the username and password for your PPPoE connection is correct since that it works perfectly with your Linksys router. If you are getting a WAN IP Address from the status or summary page of your D-link router then you can lower down the MTU size of your router to 1492. If it didn’t work, upgrade or reflash the firmware, reset it back to the factory default and reconfigure the router for PPPoE connection again. If it will not obtain an IP address or even if it has a WAN IP but can’t go online then we can consider it as a hardware failure on the D-Link router. Have it replaced.
If you have forgotten your LinkSys router password, the easiest thing to do is to reset your router to the factory default settings.
To restore the router configuration to factory defaults, hold the reset button on the unit for 30 seconds.
Once your router is hard reset, you will need to login and reconfigure it again.
To reconfigure your LinkSys, connect a PC to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.
