Magnavox MT1340B Service menu

I need to enter the service menu on the MT1340B to adjust the horizontal frequency which is slightly off. I tried 062596 and menu and also 061596 and menu to no avail. Is there another code I can use on this model?

    I tried but no luck. I also tried other buttons on the remote after the number sequence and no luck. I'll keep searching on the web to see if some has the solution to this and if I find it I'll post it here.

    Thanx Guru.

    Thanx avid_imps...that was it. Its tricky to navigate thru the options but I got lucky and found the horiz freq by pressing the number 2 button a couple of times.

  • frankie57pr Mar 15, 2008

    This is what I figured out so far:

    Use the number 2 button to select agc & horiz freq.

    3 = VCO
    6 = B-S and B-SZ
    8 = Horiz pos
    9 = Vert pos and size
    Alt/chan button to go back to main screen

    Menu button to navigate and adjust bright,sharp,color,

    Looks like this model doesn't use the 062596i method.

    Try this:

    1. Use the remote control unit.

    2. Turn the power on.

    3. Turn the power off.

    4. Press the 2, 7, 1 and then the MUTE button.

    5. These steps must be done within 5 seconds.

    (Version of microcomputer will display on the CRT. Ex: 050-0.08)

Philips 23PF9966/37 color problem!

Try to adjust it in the Service Alignment Mode (SAM).

Press 062596 followed by the STATUS button (upper left). Navigate to "White Tone", press the right key to enter and select "Normal" mode. Set the colors:

Red = 135, Green = 128, Blue = 133.

The "Cool" and "Warm" menus are deltas from the "Normal" settings:

COOL: R -3, G -1, B 5
WARM: R 2, G -3, B -13

Press the "MENU" button to return to the main menu, then the "Power" button to turn the TV off.

Service Menu Code

Its unlikely that the purple splotches can be cured from the service menu.

Assuming your TV is the Magnavox 20MC4304 combi, then the tv does not have a service code. There is an alternative though.

Details can be found in the service manual:

Color has too much red

Is this happening when you are switching between color tempature (Normal,Warm, and Cool). You wont be able to access it in normal menu.
You will have to accesss the service tech menu. enter "062596 then info", if u enter the code correct at bottom of screen you will see a warning menu only access by a service tech , continue in menu you will see on main option screen "alignment" enter this. Go to white point adjust the three temp settings (Normal, Warm, and Cool) settings as follows.
Color Temp. I Red I Green I Blue I

Cool 122 120 121

Normal 125 118 108

Warm 127 110 75
( These are factory specs u can tweak them to your own perference)

After u set these press left on remote and exit back to main service menu and store these setting before turning TV off set these settings

I see this alot when Philips manufactured the TV. The did store the settings.

Horiz adjustment on magnavox 20ms233s

I can tell you genericaly what the fault is. I have not worked on your particular model, or have the service manual for it.

It is not an adjustment. There are some electrolytic capacitors that typicaly go off value with age. These would be located in the horizontal scan amplifier area.

The set will have to be properly serviced in order to bring it back to normal operation. This is not something you can fix yourself.

I need to no the code to the convergince eprom

The convergence is adjustable from the customer menu. If you cannot adjust the convergence properly you may have a bad convergence IC if either the red or blue wont move in any or only one direction or line up with the green. Remember, convergence on a Picture Tube Projector is never 100%. However, if you have a template and want to do a total setup you can enter the service adjustment menu by using the origonal philips remote pressing 062596 INFO. Take extreem caution not to mess with any adjustments without writing down the values first.

Overscan is off a bit

Does's the set have a repair history? If it was previously serviced , the capacitor which is connected between the emitter and the collector of the horizontal output transistor transistor might have been changed with the wrong value, which would cause and overscan situation.The service menu for this set is even hard for technicians to use. It' my opinion if the service manual will not correct the horizontal width, the wrong capacitor was probably installed. Scrivitron (also these sets are known for the forementioned capacitor to short , flame or open.

Geometry settings all wrong

I wish I could help you but you will more than likely have to take your set to an authorized service center. Philips doesn't like to send service manuals to anyone except their service centers. Stargazer
