It depends on how often you watch the television. There are 3 different gases and phosphors in the plasma TV. The gases dissipate in approximately 60,000 hours. After that, the television is unusable. You should get between 5 and 10 years out of a plasma with normal usage.

I just replaced my bulb (XL2400) on my rear projection TV. I go to plug the bulb back into the TV and I get the error (red light flashing) that indicates that the bulb or the door is not securely in place. Is there a trick to getting the bulb back into the proper place. I messed around with this for over three hours last night.

If TV goes off and the led stays blinking, that is because the TV is going on protection.
Protection is a special diagnostic mode that starts when an internal fault has been detected.
If this happens erratically while you are watching TV, then parts that can commonly cause the problem are PSU board, main board or digital board, ballast board and converge board on DLP, inverter on LCD, low buffer and sustain boards on plasma.

Plasma shows rings of contrast around highlights & shows echos of what has been on the screen which last several seconds before fading away

This is common with plasmas actually. So long as the image fades and isn't a constant residual affect I wouldn't worry about it, but if it is constant and doesn't fade, its a sign of plasma burn out. The plasma in the tv has been active too long with one specific image or series of images.

Plasma televisions have been complained about because of this.

Samsung plasma TV, half screen is blacked out

Well, as per my last posting, I thought I would share. The problem of the bottom half of my 42 inch Samsung Plasma blacked out - meant a trip to the local TV repair shop. I have to say, they were great. I took it in and they were able to fix it after replacing a part - had my TV back in about a week. Cost was approx. $300. This was well worth it, considering how much I had paid for this TV only a few years ago. I had the repair done last month and so far, it's been great. Sorry, but I can't remember the name of the part.

Jvc pd35b50bu no brightness

Hitachi 46F510 different channels are different brightness and to get them viewable I have to run the brightness so high that you can not see any text at all. Also all white areas are blasting white bright. Edges of the tv also seem darker. I am connected to a cable system.
