Hello!

If your cd officesuite in license from the microsoft then the key is the the keys of the cd printed in sticker. However if this is pirated then the key is in the file usually in folder crack or Key. If there no you can find, then find it here at your own risk. www.phazeddl.com. in browsing this site your antivirus must be potent to protect from harm.

The licence number is a code of this kind "KW343-MN234-AS43E-SDF44-567JY"
and usually is written on a sticker placed in the manual, or same sticker on cd box. If the sticker is missing you need to go back to the retailer and ask a replacement.

I have bought a Netbook. May I [as my second PC] use the McAfee on my other PC to also safe guard the new one?

If you mean can you install the same copy, it depends what licence you bought.
If it was a single user licence, then no, but it may be a 3 user licence, in which case you can.
I think it may be a single user licence,
you could try free security, most of the free security is as good if not better than some of the paid for software.
Try Microsoft security essentials, Comodo, Avira or AVG9 free

I want ot install ansys 11 on my compuer can u

install normaly ansys. then launch the "setup licence" it will look for a licence file in a folder named "Licencing".
The licence file you can get it from a folder named "magnitude" where you can find aansys.dat file. you open it with notepad and then change the name of your computer and an adress. you will get these information from executing "WinHostId".
when finshing this changement, you execute "keygen" this will ran a licence.dat file. You copy it and you paste it in the licencing file. and wait for the end of installation.

this is not all :) you have to go to the environmental variables and create a new one:
ANSYSLMD_LICENSE_FILE = 1055@host
where host is the name of your computer

click ok and enjoy Ansys

I was given a pc game ''Kohan: Ahriman's Gift'', and am unable to install it because i dont have an install code. how can i get a code to install it

Generally, the code is printed on the sleeve of the DVD.
If its new - ask the shop where it was purchased to provide it.

If someone has given it to you "previously used", then it would fall within the definition of pirated software, as commercial software licences are not transferable.

If the "giftee" has stopped using it, and you really can't find the code on any of the packaging materials, then one solution would be to fire it up on their old machine, and look at the menu option called something like "about" or "properties". You should be able to write down the licence key from there.

Steer clear of any "pirate key" site with keys like 1234-DEAD-DEAD-1234, as these are often the software companies best way of detecting unlicensed unauthorised copies.

Hello e_page,

This is a problem, as the only way you can really get a copy of Windows XP, is by borrowing one from a friend and making a copy.

We cannot really tell you how to download it via bittorrent, burn the iso(cd image file) to a cd thus making your own copy as its on the gray edge of Illegal.

No matter how you get a disc make sure to use your legal serial key only.

Thank you for trying Fixya!

Dear rosemarycg ,

There can be several causes to your problem.

1. Captured cookies

Every time you install an application on your computer, it is communicating with a remote center, in your case with McAfee Security Center. In order to be able to do so, it installs a small widget on your computer, to identify your settings and login information by the remote server. It is possible that somebody hacked into your computer while somehow your protection was down, and made a copy of the cookies. As a matter of fact it is possible that the intruder got acces to your registration data with Mc Afee and it is using illegaly your personal keycode.

Suggestion: - write or call McAfee and explain them all the situation and ask for a new keycode.

2. Expired licence

Usually the licence for anti-virus or other software applications, provided together with an electronic equipment, have a promo quality first of all. As a matter of fact, the duration of a licence is for a limited period of time.

Suggestion: - check if there exists any data related to licence expiration date

3. Limited number of install attempts

Some software providers are using the system of limited number of installs, especially if the software is acquired as a promo package with an IT&C equipment.

Suggestion: - check when you install the software if in the agreement is specified something about limited number of install attempts

I hope some of the info I provided may be useful to you. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to contact me.

Laptop help again :)

Don't panic, the situation is not too bad, as the laptop's hardware is still all ok.
The Ghost software probably did not work because you did not make a complete bootable ghost CD from Windows when computer was working, or you did not do the ghosting procedure properly, or finally the ghost cd is corrupted.
if F11 does not work, it means that the recovery partition on hard disk had probably been corrupted by the virus.
Check if your laptop is covered by some insurance or extended guaranty to cover expenses for system reinstall.
Best way to proceed is asking a copy of restore cd fro your model from HP.
Contact them and ask how to obtain a copy of CD in your region, In UK they charge you £25 or so to send you the disk.
If for some reason you cannot get the restore cd, you will have to re-install system from a generic windows cd, possibly the same Windows version to validate the licence on Windows sticker at the bottom of your laptop (eg. Vista Home, XP home edition, XP professional etc.).
If you have to use a generic Windows disk you will need to download all drivers from HP. and install them after installing Windows.
Also a good choice can be locating a computer repair shop in your area and having the system re-install done using the licence number printed on the sticker at the bottom of your laptop. This job usually is not too expensive, in London, where I work, we charge £45 to do system restore.
Good luck.
