The fan on my frigidaire 20.0 cu. ft upright freezer (LFFU2065DW7) keeps running.

Good Afternoon Brian, thank you for your inquiry!

Generally speaking, it is normal for the fan to constantly run. The fan will run whenever the freezer needs cooling. This can vary between 60 through 90% of the day. I hope this information helps to some degree. However, should you feel that a service technician is needed; you may visit the manufacturer website to find a provider in your area that will look at your unit.

Best regards!

Freezer drain line keeps freezing over

Good day,
Whirpool machines have a very short defrost cycle, as compaired to many brands. This definitely contributes to the problem.
1. Make sure the drain fittings and drain hose to the drain pan are completely open. Not just open, but blown free of any debrise.
2. My experience with many whirlpool products, is ice built up under and back of the drain pan in the freezer compartment. It cannot be seen.
To solve this problem long term, means unplugging the machine, defrosting, and drying it out completely.
24 hours and idealy with a floor fan blowing into the compartment.
3. As well, you wil notice a small round disk clipped to the top of the evaporator. This is the defrost thermostat, and controls the temperature during defrost.
I change and bump this tstat up 5 degrees.
For example, if it's a 50 degree tstat, I replace it with a 55 degree. Or if it's 55 degrees I use a 60 degree model.
You will not be able to buy this as a Whirlpool item, but you can with a little effort, use a GE kit.

The part number for GE replacement kits are for example "WR50X55", the last 2 numbers are the temperature of that tstat, and run in 5 degree increments from 45 degrees to 60 degrees.

A sharp appliance parts house counterman should be able to help you.

P.S. The tstat in Whirlpools are often given in Celsius.
You'll have to convert that to farenheit
Patience in drying the machine is your friend here.

Won't freeze

Is the compressor running the whole time? If so may have a problem with a refridgerant leak....check the compressor in the rear of unit, feel if its hot....may be as simple as a relay.

Freezer drain freezes, and constant clicking noise

This clicking noise is a bad relay.

Top mounted freezer on refrigerator not working

Move the refrigerator to a room that is at least 50 degrees F.

Temps on most refrigerators are regulated by the fresh foods temp. If your garage is let's say 35 degrees, the fresh foods temp will most likely never raise enough to turn the refrigerator on. With the refrigerator never running, the freezer compartment will warm to 35 degrees, resulting in everything melting. Even if garage is a bit warmer, say 45, the refrig will not run long enough for the freezer to maintain a low enough temperture. If the garage temp falls to below freezing, say 20 degrees, the food in the fresh foods compartment will freeze. (outdoor beverage dispensers have internal heaters to prevent product from freezing !) Please don't rate this if not a Fix-Ya for you, as anything else lowers my score.

Whirlpool Freezer doesn't freeze?

insulated or not, garages are generally too cold for new energy efficient frigs to operate. ambient temp needs to be above 60 to work efficiently.

Whirlpool upright freezer AFG823NF-Thermostat not working properly

JennyT just trying to help with this. I assume this is a self defrost model. If so then is there an ice build up on the back wall? If so then the unit isn't defrosting. That is why pushing the Fast Freeze button is no longer working. You can get by however. Remove all the food from the freezer, put a vacumn in the freezer and shut the door. Turn on the vacumn, this will pull the warm air thru the freezer and in 30 minutes to an hour it will be defrosted enough to work until you can get someone to replace the 1 of 3 parts that the defrost system uses. The vacumn is what I use to defrost my nonself defrosting freezer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
