Question about Westell Wirespeed LiteLine 6100 (B9961001002) Modem

No connection My daughter is trying to get back on line but is getting no help. she has bee told thesame thing I was told. "You have a phine line or computer problem. I had her check for a phone signal from the wall to the modem. She ahs a signal. There is nothing wrong with the comptuer. The "internet" light is on solid red and I know that must mean something. HELP!!!!

Basically if the internet light on a westell modem is red there are just some settings that has to be change on the modem set up,, it depends in the protocol that you are connected.. for westell 6100 lite,, the default address for the settings is 192.168.1.1,,,,,, click start button then click run on start menu, input http://192.168.1.1 then ckick ok...you will directed to the westell set up page,, default username for modem security is admin and default password is password,, then edit conection - if it promts to input a connection name, account id and password pls contact your ISP to get the infos.... if not just ckick release then renew

Just the internet light is flashing


If you are just setting up your connection your service provider may need to establish your IP address and/or Subnet Mask.

Also the signal or connection to your modem is not available due to your cable line not having a direct path back to the hookup at the house or a loose connection.

Unable to connect to internet. Only two lights show -- power & dsl. When I called for help I was told I needed a new ethernet cable. Bought that & installed. Same problem -- only two light lit...


In all there should be lan led, dsl led, power led and internet led,
So if dsl and power led is glowing and others not?? than check the lan cable and even check the lan card of ur pc is it enabled or drivers are properly installed and same way try to check the modem configuration??

its better to reset your modem by pressing the reset button on the back side of your modem for 15 seconds. Then try to connect to the internet

DSL light flashes on and off and wont stay on have had problem for several months with intermittant loss of connection now its permanent. Tried using shorter cable to modem and unplugged from computer but...


Hello there!

You should try to check for shorted, cracked or loose connections on your telephone line and extensions(if you have one).

Once you've concluded that there really is no problem with your lines, then have your modem checked by your provider's support group or have your modem replaced.

How do i connect my speedstream 5100 to dsl aftr i turn it on?


Call your service provider.

i.e. Time Warner, Cox cable, Verizon, etc.

Talk to Tech Support. They'll run a line test and guide you through any problems.

Heres how i install my modems
1.Turn off all equipment
2. Take an ethernet cable going from the modem, and plug it into the ethernet slot on the computer.
3. plug in the modems power and give it 1 min to power up.
4. Power up your computer and see if it gets connection.

Troubleshooting.
1.Go to the control pannel and look at internet connections.
2. Look for your connection (LAN), and see if is connected.
3. If it isnt connected than it is a problem on your ISP's side.

For other support
1. Call your internet service provider for help.
2. Call the customer support line for the modem.

I can't get on line


A blinking DSL light means that you have no DSL sync -- you are not receiving a digital signal. You will need to contact your ISP to have them repair your service.

Steps to do first:
1. Powercycle the modem -- unplug the power from the back for 15 secs, plug it back up.
2. Ensure that all phones that share a line with the DSL have filters attached.
