Sonar Producer 6 - Audio/midi devices/controller-surfaces..Which settings??

Hi,
ive just got sonar producer edition 6 and to go along with that, i have a m-audio oxygen 49 and a m-audio fast track pro interface.

Through sonar how should i have, the settings for the audio (to get playback through my fast track pro)? the midi devices settings? and the controller/surfaces settings(both in and outputs)?

also another question if i connect my oxygen 49 directly through usb, aswell as my fast track pro(through usb)- when setting up a midi track what settings should i have the input, output, channel on?

Thankyou very much in advance, i just cant seem to get my head around it.

James

I can't get my Behringer XENYX X1222 USB to control any of the faders within Sonar X1 Producer.

It may require the driver to be installed for the Behringer, or re-installed.

Go into the settings section of Sonar and if you can "De-select" M-audio as the default controler, or you may need to go through the preferences of M-Audio to find it.

To me it sounds like a driver is missing.

I downloaded a sonar cakewalk program to my computer but there is no sound. How do i fix this?

First check your speakers with any media player. If this sounds OK then keep the volume level up/same sothat you can hear any sound from speaker. Now Check the input & output devices in sonar (Select the appropriate device). Put any audio file in a track in Sonar & check...

If you are not a regular user of Sonar then it is better to switch to another DAW which are better (at least in my openion) before you are used to Sonar.
I'd suggest "Nuendo" of Steinberg, it is highly professional, far better & far more user friendly than Sonar. I've used both...

Timing after recording. and midi composing

May I suggest you try to adjust your audio settings inside Sonar. Also it is a good idea to always keep your C drive well defragmented. I once had this problem using Sonar LE and the only way I got rid of it was after formatting my C drive and reinstalling the drivers and Sonar again. After that the problem came back and then I upgraded from the SB Live to Audigy SE.
Make sure you also have lots of free space on your C drive and have a decnt amount of ram.

Sounds like what is called a latency problem. You need to go into the settings in Sonar and under audio, adjust the Latency to a higher number...I don't know sonar home studio, or I would tell you the exact area to go in the menu's to adjust latency..Hope this helps!

Sonar 6 Producer - palyback quality issue

I had this problem today whilst installing Sonar on my new laptop. It wasn't the click track. It was the playback glitching, clicking and rattling. I put the buffer size to maximium but it was still happening.

I got round it by downloading the latest version of ASIO4all (2.9 beta4) and installing it. I then opened Sonar 6, options, audio, advanced, then selecting ASIO in the driver mode drop down box. Then I closed Sonar and reopened it.

If you use one device for recording and playback it should work now but if like me you use seperate devices or if it doesn't work click, options, audio, general, ASIO panel, advanced options. Here you can select your inputs and outputs. Play around a bit here. Mine worked when the output of the playback device was selected and both the input and output of the recording device was selected.

ASIO4all sorted out my latency issues as well.

Hope it helped.
