Stainless steel ??? rust??? technically s/s should never rust. however particles on the finish will rust and stain the metal. heres a solution that i use and works real well. look closely at the handle you should be able to detect a grain in the metal ( just like wood s/s has a grain pattern) with a scotchbrite pad sprayed with wd-40, wipe handle WITH the grain, slowly at first applying even long strokes,, it will come clean, as well as leave a protective finish so as not to happen again

Where to buy mabe gas stove burner parts

Not sure what area you live in but check the yellow pages under restaurants/ equipment repair. You will find a local repair company that will sell parts and should be able to help you repair it as well.

Smoking oven

If this the first time the oven is used it is nornal to see smoke as the oven burner and racks are coated with an oil film to prevent rusting while in storage. Other than that look for something stuck on the burner assbly clean any heavy spills on oven bottom. On your next nice day open windows an turn on self clean cycle.

Looks like the stainless steel is rusted.how do you fix that.

Stainless steel should not rust, and if it corrodes it does not show the normal red rust colour. Hopefully your surface is not steel plated to represent stainless steel. If it is stainless steel it would be something that has stained it and this can be removed with any quality commercial mild abrasive cleaned and Scotchbrite or a patent soft fine polishing block available at most large hardware od department stores.

Go to a motor store and buy some engine spray paint. It is dessigned to work at very high temperatures, with some wire wool, rub off the rust and respray the parts as required. There are loads of colours to choose from, go mad with your colour choice if you have a glass oven door! Be distinctive, (it's also available in black, ha ha.) I will work an engine gets a hell of a lot hotter than an oven. Regards, Dave

Simmer plate rusted over

try using a white vinegar/water solution to wipe it off, then wash the vinegar solution off and seal with oil.

You may have to do it a few times to get the worst of the rust off.

If you get to the point of using it, to prevent it happening again, after use you need to clean it off any always finish by wipingit down with an oil soaked paper towel to seal it.

It will get discolored with use, so if you don't have one already
I would advise buying a cover, Viking make a stainless or a chopping block cover.

Rust stains appeared all over the outside of the stainless steel front of over, air outlet and splash back. What would have caused this and how can we fix this problem?

If I understand your question, your stainless steel surfaces have rusted. Correct?
Contrary to popular belief, stainless steel CAN rust under the right circumstances.

I won't go into what may have caused this problem, but I will hopefully help you solve it and prevent future rusting.

Usually it is only surface rust and not deep pitting of the steel.
Surface rust can usually be removed with a product like Soft Scrub cleanser or liquid Meguiar's Car Cleaner Wax.

Apply a small amount of either product to a clean cloth and rub over the rust until it is removed.
Wait until the product dries and buff with a clean cloth.
If you have a brushed stainless steel surface, you will want to rub in the same direction of the "grain".

One benefit of the wax is that it will protect the surface from future rusting.
If the rust cannot be removed in this manner, a more aggressive approach is required. Do NOT use the following procedure if you have a smooth stainless steel surface, only if you have the brushed surface..

Use a non-metallic scuff pad, such as a 3M Green Scouring Pad and rub in the direction of the brushed stainless steel grain.
This process should remove all surface rust and even some minor scratches. You can use the pad dry or better yet, with a liquid wax as a lubricant.

Never use steel wool!
It will only leave small particles of steel imbedded in the surface. The condition will look worse when the particles themselves rust!

I cannot be held responsible for any damages that may occur from the above procedure. But, it has worked fine for me whenever I have implimented it on dozens of similar surfaces.

Good Luck!

Handle on oven door falling

Murray...after a DJ here in NY from the '60's!

First, why is the handle falling off? Is it loose or damaged? Most of these handles are only plastic with holes tapped in. If the holes are damaged and you can't fix them, you will have to replace. Most handles are through bolted in the door. You should be able to access those screws from the inside of the door. If not....

How do take a door apart: First locate any screws in the bottom of the door. Remove them. Open the door and remove screws from the sides and inside of door. Get help supporting the outside of the door and note that it will snap shut when you remove any weight from the door. Caution, most door glass is not well clipped in...it may come loose!!!! You may want to take pictures of the inside of the door once you open it. Once the door is apart, locate any fasteners holding the handle and attempt to tighten them. If not successful, you'll need that new handle. Get an extra set of hands to help with removal and reinstallation of that door skin. You'll need 'em!
