Phone keeps ringing after I answer it.

It just keeps ringing after I answer it. I have 2 other land phones and this does not happen with them, just the 2 Unidens.

SOURCE: only 1 phone rings

There is a small battery inside your main control unit that keeps programming in memory during a power outage. The life of the battery is about 5 years give or take. When the system goes down for an extended period (or possibly several quick on/off cycles) your programming will be wiped out. By default, only a few telephones will ring. The battery is most likely a small blue 3-cell battery soldered right on the main board. It's not easily replaced. You can get a technician to replace it or hook up a standard battery backup unit (UPS) made for a computer. Your phone system uses less power than a computer so it can use any UPS and will last longer than advertised. Hard to say exactly how long. Just don't re-program the system until you take care of the problem or it will just default on you again.

SOURCE: speaker problems for sony ericsson 905 mobile

My phone which is 2 months old has incurred the same problem today! I took it back to the carphone warehouse and they are sending it away to be investigated. However a friend of mine wanted the identical phone and by coincidence went into the o2 shop today to upgrade and was told there was a callback on them and none available until further notice! There must be some sort of fault on the handset and probably this is 1 of them.

SOURCE: HOW CAN I ANSWER THE PHONE WITHOUT PRESSING ANY BUTTON?

It has to do with a program called ringing line preference. Program # 4-11. Check out www.wedophones.com/Manuals/NEC/Electra%20Elite%20IPK%20Programming%20Manual%20-%20Document%20R%204.pdf

If you happen to have an Electra Elite 48, 192 or IPK this manual can show you how to program that feature. Don't take it lightly though, you can jeopardize your system if you do not know what you are doing.

Why won't the answering machine take a message from a caller when I'm on the phone. Also, why can't it ring for more than 4 rings?

it is not in the programming to accept calls while you are talking to another . most land line phones only have 2 settings on number of rings before the machine picks up .

Hooking up fax to KX TG7871 Panasonic Phone

There is excellent support here on basic fax setups. You have what is known as "Distinctive Ringing Service". There are pros and cons to the various setups. I assume you recognize the rings and answer only when the ring for the landline talk comes on. The fax will pick up the faxes, and the answering machine will pick up the voice.

Need model number of your fax - google that!

Distinctive Ringing Service setup While it is not available everywhere, a distinctive ringing service can be purchased from most telephone companies. With this service, more than one phone number is assigned to the same phone line. Each phone number will ring differently. The main number will ring with a normal single ring and the additional number will ring with a distinctive ring pattern assigned by the phone company.
When a distinctive ringing service is used, set the Rings to Answer to 2 and then follow the steps below to set the distinctive ringing pattern:
  1. Press Setup , press 4 , and then press 1 to enter the Answer Ring Pattern setup of the Advanced Fax settings.
  2. Use the Right Arrow to scroll through the available settings. When the ring pattern assigned by the phone company displays (double or triple rings), press OK .

Increase number of rings from 14

The number of rings is controlled by the answering machine, not the phone. What make and model answering machine do you have on your phone line?

Our AT&T 1725 has quit recognizing when the phone is ringing. The phone keeps own ringing instead of beign answered.

There are a couple of things to try. First is to check the cable & plug that connect the 1725 to the telephone line. Disconnect the phone line from the back of the answering machine, plug it into a known working telephone, using cell phone (or another land line) call the phone number and see if the phone rings.

If it doesn't, replace the line cord and try again.

If it does ring, check the optioning to make sure it is set for, say 2 rings.

Also, is the telephone line a regular telephone company POTS line or is it one that is being provided by a cable modem? If your phone service is being provided by a cable company, the media converter might not be putting out enough voltage for the answering machine to realize that the line is ringing.

If everything is correct, replace the answering machine.

K80 all in one

Hi,
our problem is similar and we've posted it....We have one land line with fax over facility. The fax is assigned a different phone number to the telephone line. The fax number rings different to the telephone ring but both are 'two rings' and the fax machine cannot differenciate between the two and keeps answering the telephone. The k80 has a maximum of 6 rings before it answers and this is too few to allow us to get to the phne in time. Also we have an answering machine on the telephone line. How do we get the fax to answer only the ring from the fax over line?

is it the same prob? Cowboy has posted some suggestions.

Good luck

Answering machine doesn't pick-up reliably

I found in the manual that if the machine doesn't answer after the correct number of rings, then it may be the ringing system used by the phone company. But I have also heard of people with VOIP (such as Vonage) having problems with this as well.
