Sansa m250 won't finish "finalizing update"

I got a sansa m250 for Christmas. My sister has had one and it work great. She got songs on there easily and it works fine. Does the device work with iTunes? Because I gave it to my boyfriend to put songs on there. I showed him how the mp3 player worked and everything. He went to put songs on there a week ago and it is still "finalizing update." I have tried plugging it into the computer, but my computer doesn't even mention that it's plugged in. I've tried replacing the battery and everything. I really don't know what to do.

Got the same problem, and it seems to be a common one.
It seems the unit has some trouble reading certain mp3 files and freezes.
I couldn't find a total reset button, which presumably would have solved the problem.
    Bad software.

I had the same problem with my m250, the PC wasn't recognizing the device nor the connection. So I tried the settings of the mp3. I started by going to the menu, then settings, then USB and then selected MSC instead of Auto Detect. After that, my PC did recognized the device. Hope this helps.

Ummmmm.... What are you doing exactly if your trying to download the music, Download using limewire, bearshare,
Its not going to work on Itunes most of the time so just use Limewire or bearshare. Connect the Mp3 using the Usb thing and try to put it in front of the cpu or behind either 1 of them.
After you should probably get a pop up scroll down and go to view folders or whatever and open it and put the music you want in the mp3 and when yur done beside the clock look for a Safetly USB remover or whatever and disconnect it.
I hope it works
Give me some Credit
and click the Button XD

Try connecting it to another computer, if it works then you just have to use that computer to download music onto the MP3.

If it doesn't work on atleast 2 computers then its the USB.

If it doesn't work try connecting the USB to another USB port around your computer their should be atleast 2.

SansaDisk Sansa m250 (2GB) "Finalizing update"

You need to go to the Sandisk support site and down load the Updater program. Run the updater on your player. This in a way reinstalls the software on the player kind of like reinstalling the operating system. [

This is an ongoing issue and its better that you called Sandisk about this to have it replaced under warranty.

Can't create directories directly on the m250. I've got about 1000 songs loaded (already broken into subdirectories) that take up 800 MB and the device claims that it's full. (Firmware is also updated to 4.1.08A)

Please wait rebuilding the library. Then the m250 shuts off.

Try doing a hard reset on a Sansa m250:

  1. Turn off the Sansa. Just pull the battery out for a second and then reinstall the battery without pushing any further buttons.
  2. Plug the Sansa into a computer, and open "My Documents" in the computer.
  3. Open the Sansa file as if it were a drive, then go to the "MUSIC Specific storage" file.
  4. Right click the "MUSIC Specific storage" file, and press "Format."
This should hard reset the Sansa m250. This solution has worked for me.

I do not know if this will work on other Sansa m200 type .mp3 players.

Frozen

Mine froze in play position, but no sound.

Here's what worked for me. Mine is the Sansa M250

1)Plugged the player into the PC and removed all the MP3s

2)Downloaded update program from Sansa link below

http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376

3) Install the program

4) Plug the Sansa into your PC.

5) Program automatically starts and allows you to check for software update. Do so and let the program update your player.

Fixed my freeze problem. Player working perfectly now.
Hope this helps.
