Question about Dell 3100cn Laser Printer

1 Answer

Laser printer problem

Dell Laser 3100cn says " ready to print" and flashes below "insert black toner (k)". Place a print job into the printer and it goes to stready " insert black toner (k) with no noise. Insert a new black toner ( Aftermarket LD products) cartridge in and it will print a few pages and then go back to the same as above.

I ever rolled it manually around to the other colors to act as if was going to replace them but never took them out and once it printed a few pages and other wise didn't help.

i have put three new cartridges in and been on the phone with LD and they are sending me the 4th new aftermarket replacement cartridge.

Do you have a solution?

Having a similar problem except it won't print at all even though this is the third 'off brand' cartridge. The first two worked fine. There is a Non-Dell selection in the menu, which I selected. You might try that.

For starters aftermarket cartridges are just not like the new ones from Dell. I quit using aftermarket ones long ago to save these headaches, with Dell you can get on Dell Chat and they will gladly help with issues like this. Try that with "Bob's Printer Cartridge and Music Rental" you won't get anywhere.

It sounds like you've got contamination on the drum cartridge or on one of the toner cartridges.

I'm actually going to be installing black toner in my 3100cn in about 8 hours, so I'll inspect and clean each of the carts, and write up the process for you tonight.

Try the cleaning rod. visit: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/3100cn/en/ug/section22.html
for images (under replacing the "cleaning rod pad") for where to find the cleaning rod. You likely don't need to replace the pad, just use the rod (pull out and push in 10X) and try to print again.
