First use a try testing another source of sound, (say an Ipod or cd player) instead of your computer.

If that works the try troubleshooting the mute and volume controls on your computer.

How do I activate the sound for my monitor (CM2019). Our old speakers broke and I want to use the speakers in the monitor.

On the back of the monitor, look for a small jack with green color with the 'AUDIO INPUT', 'AUDIO LINE INPUT', then you will need an audio cable with mini stereo phone plug at each end (get it from Radio Shack). One end of the plug will go into the monitor AUDIO input (green), and another end will go into the PC AUDIO line out (Green jack) just like where your old PC speaker cable was plugged into. You need to set the volume level on your monitor to about mid point first and redjaut it later on.

Cannot make speakers work

You need to use audio cable with ministereo phone plug at both ends of the cable, then one end is plugged into the monitor audio line in jack (usually Green color), another end of the cable will be plugged into the audio line out (Green color) of the PC. Set the volume level to about 1/2 way at first and then adjust the volume control panel (Master volume and WAVE level, these two controls affect the sound output feeding the monitor) on the PC.

You can try feeding the monitor with MP3 player first to make sure the monitor speakers are working properly first.

No volume this monitor was given to me the volume is all the way up on desktop and I cant see where any speakers can be put.

Are you sure the monitor can handle speakers? Maybe it has it's own speakers, maybe it has no speakers at all. You can always plug the speakers into your CPU into the sound card, it is usually the green audio port.

That said, some things that you can trouble shoot.
  1. Make sure that the volume is all the way up on the desktop.
  2. Make sure that the volume control is all the way up in the control panel sound option
  3. Make sure that nothing has been muted, the control panel allows you to selectively mute a single device.

The speakers no longer work. They were working 2

selectbanker, As a test only try this. Remove green plug from rear of pc. Find old am/fm stereo transistor radio or even a portable cd player and connect the green plug to your "new" audio source. Can you hear anything coming out of the monitor's speakers? Also try a set of stereo headphones in the green audio "out" jack to see if sound is coming out of the pc. Narrow down where loss of signal occurs first. 12fixlouie

Speakers don't Work on HP Pavilion f1903 desktop

Just match the color of the male and female on each end. Plug the audio cable (mini stereo phone plugs) to the PC audio line out (green miniphone jack) to the Powered speaker mini stereo phone audio line input jack (green color jack). You will have to set the volume controls of the speaker control knob and at the PC on screen volume control panel.

I recently bought a Windows 7 64 bit PC. I have Optiquest monitor with built-in speakers. The sound was working fine and then it stoppped. I tried stand-alone speakers, then anoither monitor with speakers-...

Go into control panel / sounds / sounds and audio / select audio blind / should see a driver listed in each device. Back to sounds blind /test sound, if you can see the black arrow but its greyed out then driver is faulty. If you can click on it and it changes baxk to th esquare all is OK, ensure the sound jack is plugged into the GREEN ones at rear PC. Also check in volume blind that speakers are selected.

Acer V223w monitor

Hello Cricket,

Sound/Speakers that are built into monitors, typically are pretty poor. I suggest purchasing some speaker from your local electronics store, or www.newegg.com. (New Egg has very good deals on computers and accessories, like speakers.) Here is a link to New Egg's speaker section. http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=60&name=Speakers

On the back of your computer, you will see little holes (3.5mm). They are usually color coded, Green is the typical speaker output jack/hole/port. When you buy your speakers, you will plug the cable with Green Head Plug (3.5mm) that is attached to your speakers, into this Green Jack. Turn them on, and you should have audio! Now, if the volume seems weak, you can double click the speaker at the bottom right of your Start Bar in windows. It looks like a little silver circle. This is your volume control There are multiple slide bars to adjust your audio.

Good Luck!
