If you can check your monitor with another computer, that would be the best inspection and make sure that the problem is from LCD monitors. The following steps are how to check what wrong with your monitor.
1. Power on both CPU and monitor. After it goes off, you have to check that if you can see the image on the screen or not by shining a flashlight into the screen, not directly but find the best angle to the screen and take a look very closely.
2.If you can see the icons or any image, there will be a minor problem. I used to check my LCD monitor and could see window image using flashlight and found out that Some of CCFL lamps inside were broken and it is very easy to replace.
3.If you cannot see anything on the screen, there'll be some problems with inverter board. If you have soldering tool and want to fix it by yourself, check the caps first. It may cause this problem. Some caps might show leaking or burn spot on the board because of too high temp. If you don't have soldering tool, you better go get a technician to do so.
Thank you,
Tan

Why does screen go black after a few seconds

Hope this helps.... Your monitor has an inverter issue. You know it's an inverter problem when:
1. Your monitor starts normally and displays the startup/desktop screen for a while.
2. Then it suddenly goes off, leaving a blank (black) screen or a very dim display.

To fix this black screen problem, change the inverter board (based on your monitor brand).

The backlight is not on, it can be due to bad caps, lamp assemblies, failed components, etc. Please read my guide and look at the failed caps and monitors.

Monitor picture comes on for only 1 second and then it is blank (black) Color bars appear to be OK (for that second) when running the Self-diagnosis function.

timothy henr, Do you understand how the new screw-in, curlie-Q, energy efficient, CFL light bulbs generate white light?? You will when you find out just what makes the WHITE fixya background on this web page you are looking at!!! Black screen of death can strike at any time!! Do a reply when finished with your research of repair video clips at YOUTUBE. Your search terms are: "lcd monitor disassembly" and "lcd monitor repair." That should get you started. Your unit could have a "switch-mode-power-supply" that detects a problem with itself or another circuit and goes into "full" or "partial" shutdown mode. You should be able to tell the difference if you shine a bright flashlight 1 inch from screen when it goes black!! Partial=still see win-desktop. Full shutdown=no see desktop!!! What wil you do??? Fix or just trade up for new display?? 12fixlouie

Monitor goes black after running for a few minutes. Brand new 22 inch sceen.I prees the button to turn it on and it says Analog and goes black again. I have to shut down the computor to get it to come back...

Sounds like the computer is shutting it down and the monitor is fine. Check for viruses then check your settings in device manager for the screen saver and power down (screen off) options.

My screen goes black after a few seconds

Sounds like a bad solder joint on the printed circuit board. Once it heats up then it no longer makes good contact and the monitor goes black until it cools down and makes contact again. You could resolder it if you knew where it was but monitors are dangerous to go playing around with as they can hold very high charges of electricity in their capacitors that are very dangerous. It's a throw away world. Go buy a new one.

Starlogic 20 inch widescreen monitor screen keeps going black

This is probably a back light problem. Take a bright flashlight and while the monitor is on, point it at the LCD and try different angles, etc. If you can see an image, it is the back light, probably the back light voltage converter unit in the lcd. It could also be the back light bulbs.

If you don't see an image with the flash light, then it could be the main logic board.

Monitor screen goes out (black) 2 seconds after turning on

Your site is extremely misleading and fraudulent. I was under the impression that I would at least get a hint at what might be a problem instead of you folks making me wait to get a money for something answer that you could have displayed on your main page. Places like yours have no place on the internet and I'm going to find out what I can do to report you.

Thank's for nothing
