RCR460 with Emerson Tv doesnt change channel to input sources
I just purchased this item and registered the code and it works just fine with my Emerson tv, but it works with all functions except changing the channel to the input channels( Video 1 and 2)........any solutions????????
Re: RCR460 with Emerson Tv doesnt change channel to input...
Found the answer but it doesnt help.......i got the number to who makes RCA remote controls and called them and talked to tech support to see what i could do for this problem. According to them, some universal remotes are compatible with most tvs but sometimes the remote can only give you the basic functions (chan up/down, volume up/down, #'s, mute an so on.) i dont really understand why it wouldnt work for the input channel but i do know i have a lower end and low priced tv. so....just like everything else the more you pay...the better it is. I checked the remote on my other tv in the living room and everything works just fine, even the input button. Hope this helps...

if your tv doesnt have a digital tuner, you cant, unless you have a digital to analog tuner converter (can be purchased in walmart, or other stores that carry tv s, electronics) you tune your tv to 3 or 4, use the converter box to scan for channels, and for changing channels instead of your tv tuner
it doesnt mater what channel the tv is on, find the source or input button on the remote. when you press source button a list of input devices should display on the screen, the source you want should be VIDEO but it all depends on what input the player is connected. With the player on as you scroll through each of the items listed on the source menu no mater what input the device is connectedthe dvd player welcome menu will appear on the screen.if this doesnt work check to make sure the RCA cord is connected to video out(yellow)and audio out(white and red) on the player then on the tv there will be several input options any ony should work as long as it is an input port but ideally you want to use the one marked video/DVD in.
Probably so, if the video cables match up color wise then you should be ok there. Try changing the INPUT / SOURCE on the TV. Look for a button on the remote that says that and try different modes and inputs there. If you can't find that button try going to channel 2 on the TV and then going DOWN in channels with the the channel + - button.
I just purchased one of these televisions and it didn't come with a remote. However, a Philips Universal Remote (SRU2103/27) with a code 0520 works fine. I haven't explored all the codes but I can easily change from tv stations to Video 1 and Video 2 merely by pressing the "Input" button on the remote.

Another reply mentioned using a duraband model instead of Emerson and it worked for him.
universal remotes are tricky, if you have the pamphlet, often times there are several codes for each brand. you have to try all the emerson codes for your universal even tho the power, volume and channel functions may work with several emerson codes, some of these specialized buttons (like input) may only work on your TV with one specific code.
also, if there are any unlabeled buttons on the universal try them with each new emerson code.
Actually I found there are several remotes that work. The first is the Bright House networks remote, the larger one...The second is The Universal Remove Control by GE. It's numbered 24944 in the upper right hand corner of the paper. It's sold for $4.94 at Walmart in the checkout area...
I found that manually inputting the code for the remote doesn't work. You have to do a search for the code using their method...on this particular remote from Walmart, its hold the setup button down until it lights up, then press and depress the TV button...then press channel up until the TV changes channels. It worked once, but I just kept going, the 2nd time it worked, then I pressed the mute button [to keep the code] and it works...you simply press input and it switches to AV.
I have to admit I thought it was ridiculous that you can't use this particular TV without the remote, but I was happy that I went through the effort the first time to keep trying remotes...
This is the first kids TV that I have found that you can't find the AV channel by going through the channels AND you can't hook up two items to the AV outlets because you have to disconnect the back or front ones, to use the other....PLUS it only comes with a dual AV outlet, instead of the 3 plugs [red, white, yellow] only has the white and yellow.
you should be able to hold down the desired function you want to program......(for tv, hold tv) since i dont know what tv brand your trying to get it to work with i can only suggest holding down the tv button after you turn on your tv manually and hit the channel up button until it changes the channel. turn of the tv with the remote and see if it turns it back on. if it works you should be good to go. hope this helps
