Lines Copy has black line that runs down the middle?

My Canon 940 copier has a soft black 1/2 inch line running down each copied page. I pulled out the cartridge and opened up the long bar exposing a red roller bar which appears dirty and matches identical where the line is on my copies. How do I clean this roller bar? Thanks.

I will give you all the reasons I can think of.
1, If the line is only there when running through a document feeder and not there off the glass. The small strip of glass directly under the document feeder is dirty.
2. The drum has a scratch on it, or the cleaning blade is not cleaning the drum properly. Would require that cartridge replacement.
3. The fuser roller may be work in the middle. You would notice some reprinting , or ghost copying if that were bad.
4. Less likely would be some piece of fuzz in the light path, or a small piece of paper or tape in the paper path smearing the ink across the page.
If your machine prints, see if the line is on a print, if its on a print and not on the copy then it is scanner related.

I cant believe i said that. My last line is 100 percnt backwards. SO sorry,

If it can produce a print, and the line is NOT on the print, but IS ON the copy it is scanner related.

And to think I don't drink or do drugs LOL.

    So sorry.

When I print, there are two line balck lines and two faded black lines running down the middle of the page.

i think it is a laser printer.
In laser printer when the drum got damaged (inside the cartridge ) may leads to this state.

so check it out.

I can not get my copier to work at all it just leaves a j 3 message. When it was working black lines were being left over every copy page

where the black line being left when after the drum or before the fuser THe hot part. make a copy and stop the machine so the paper is in the middle catch it before it goes into the hot part are the lines there? be careful the toner will not be fuse your hand will smear the toner, if the lines are there you need to replace the cleaning blade and maybe the drum and get the image unit that houses the drum might need to be cleaned.

if no lines then the fuser is putting the lines on the copy replace the upper and lower fuser rollers and cleaning roller next to the lower fuser roller.

Black lines in the middle of the copy

Whether they are horiz or vert,.. the copier needs a new toner drum.
The black lines are caused by the toner drum not being able to reset the charge on the drum, in the areas that are creating the black lines. This is not a visible change, so you will likely not see an "damage".
I hope this helps and helps you understand what is going on inside
