Question about Casio EXILIM Card EX-S770 Digital Camera

Will not come on

Dear Friend,
When I press the button to turn on the camera, normally
the lens cover opens and the lens zooms out. All of a sudden when I press the button to turn on it will not do anything.

When I press "on", I get no response. Also, when I charge, I get a blinking red light instead of a constant one. Taking battery / memory card out and putting it back in doesn't seem to help. Any other advice?
I have the same problem. My camera will not turn on. I also have the ex-s770. I sent it in to Casio because when I called them about the problem they said it was not the battery. They sent me a letter with an estimated bill for a flat fee charge of 126.95 and they said it may cost more, because they will not checked it out until I pay. Another option was to sent them a check to have them return it back to me and another option was for them to keep it. Or I could also buy a refurbished one that would have a 90 day warranty. I had it sent back. I paid too much to just give up on it, but I want it fixed. PLEASE HELP!

This request is not totally mine. The first part is someone elses. Mine starts off with that I have the same problem. Mine will not go on either, but I do not have the problem with my red light flashing on the cradle. My situation is that it will not hold a charge for very long. After I charge it I can use it for a little while. Then if I go to use it later and not put it back on the charger it will die. I bought a new battery, but the problem is still the same.

Remove the battery then press and hold on the power button for at least 10 seconds. Then replace the battery and turn on. This is a hardware reset that can be done on most electronics. My advice for you: NEVER buy Kodak and Casio Junkyard products. I have seen lots of unhappy customers..

Hey there Kathy77, the blinking red light you see indicates a defective battery. I would suggest you take it out and clean all the terminal connections with an eraser. If this step does not help, replace battery with a new one. Also please ensure your battery is seated correctly. Good Luck!

Well there are two different case in your post. If you are in case A (dear friend post) , then I can try to find a fix, the problem may be shutter locked, sensor, electronics etc.
If you are in case B (fee 126.95 from Casio) then there is nothing to do, probably board inside must be replaced and it will cost nearly the price of a new camera.
A way out of this may be buying a faulty camera of same kind (maybe on ebay) and getting the board replaced by yourself or a local repair shop, I am sure it will be cheaper than what Casio estimated.

If you are in case A instead remove and place back the battery couple of times. try to start camera. then move the mode switch and try back to start camera.
Check if the shutter in front of the camera try to open when you press on.
Additionally , if camera had recently been exposed to humidity in a wet place , or had been in contact with water, leave it in a dry and worm (not hot) place with battery out and battery door open.
If all this does not work bring it to a local repair shop before sending it back to Casio.

If the camera is under guarantee instead, contact Casio as soon as possible and eventually send it to them.

Well kodak and casio are two exceptional brands. The first keep building and inventing most important innovation in the sector (Kodak). The second one built the strongest lcd watchs in the world. In any case this is my personal opinion. Both brands build and distribute high quality devices at an affordable price, then someone may be disappointed sometimes.

    regards

My camera stopped working suddenly. When I turn

Hi,

Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. If the camera is still under warranty, before trying any of these, please please first contact your camera's maker to see if they'll cover the repair, or to determine how much they'll charge for the repair. Who knows, you might get lucky. But if they quote you a number that's higher than the value of your camera, you may want to consider the following methods.

Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.
Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one).

Thank you!

The problem is of zoom lens motor which operates lens cover along with zoom, and it needs replacement with new part, and camera will start working fine again.

Hi my camera is telling me to...

Is the camera turned on? Removed the Cap on the Zoom lens? Try turning it off and on, while the cap cover on the lens is removed, then press the heart button and take some photos. What specifically is the warning?

Olympus Stylus 730 shuts off after few seconds. Battery is fully charged, tried a resetting: no change.

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover opens and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode.
Operate the zoom lever or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.

Lens Error Message

Hi there

I had the same problem a year after I bought my camera. I returned it to Nikon and they fixed it and returned it. The problem reoccurred 3 times and each times Nikon repaired it free of charge. Then after a year it went again and, when I returned it to Nikon they sent me a new camera. Within a couple of months the new camera had the same problem. I have since resolved it with new batteries! The original coolpix rechargeable batteries do not seem to recharge properly so when I put ordinary AA batteries in it suddenly worked. Good luck.

Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!
