When the oven is on the trip switch fuse goes off. Now this is happening with the hob too. The shop where I bought the oven suggests that the element may have gone. What do you think is wrong ? If it is the element is it worth repairing ?

the hob is the cooker plate where you put saucepans andfrying pans. In this case the hob is fitted separately from the oven.

    Thanks for your reply.

The hob is the plate where saucepans and frying pans go for boiling and frying. In this case it is separate to the oven though the same make. Thank you for your reply.

I'm sorry, but what is "hob"? If it is the element, sure it's worth repairing. Help me with the "hob", then I can help you. Thanks!

Thanks Louise for clarifying hob for me...:). Yes, I believe it's worth replacing the element. They can check out the element for you by using an ohm meter to see if it's bad. If so, then I'd replace it. If not, you can write me back and I'll help you figure it out.  Good Luck! Jim

No power to oven at all. Checked trip fuse and all ok there.???

It is likely the control board. You need a technician. They are expensive so you need the correct diagnosis and warranty on the work.

Fuse keeps tripping

tripping a circuit breaker indicates a dead short or insulation failure
not being able to move the main switch indicates that the contacts inside are burnt together
only option is to call an accredited electrician to test the circuits and rectify the fault
tell him to bring spare elements is case on e or both have burnt out

No power at all :(

Sounds like either you tripped the 220 breaker in your household electric panel, or a fuse located on the oven's control board. (service man)

Oven not producing any heat

just the oven? then more than likely the element. if the stove eyes are not working as well, then your looking more at a sensor, thermostat, fuse, breaker, etc. almost always an element though

Hob on my hotpoint oven trips my RCD

It is either a faulty ring, or the regulator that controls it is faulty.
You really need a meter to test the ring with to be certain which part is faulty.
Hope this helps.

Complete power loss to Hotpoint electric oven

You need to ascertain that the oven is actually getting power. To do this, you are going to have to remove it from the housing and remove the terminal cover where the the cable comes in, and check for power there.
You may find that the terminal block has charred due to a bad connection and the wire has burnt away
If this o/k, and you are getting voltage there, then the problem is obviously within the oven itself, could be a timer fault.
If you have no voltage at terminal block, then the problem is between the terminal block and the main switch.
Hope this helps with your problem.

Tricity bendix se211 electric cooker trips all my electrics

The symptoms you describe are a classic example of an oven element heating up, and as it gets hotter, the insulation is breaking down, thereby causing the earth leakage trip to operate.
To confirm this , switch on the oven, and turn all 4 rings on the top to full heat, 2 at a time, let them stay on for at least 10-15 mins, and if it does not trip, then you can be pretty sure it is the oven element(s) that is the problem

It is not likely to be the wall switch, as if it were faulty, i would expect the trip to go right away.
If you want to check further, then turn on the oven again and see if it trips, if it does ,then it is definately the oven element(s) that is the problem.

If it is a fan assisted oven , the element is at the rear of the oven, and possibly one under the base ot the oven. If it is a conventional convection oven, then there is an element at each side of the oven, even if one is faulty, replace both.

Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
