Double click on the Audio icon in the bottom right hand of your screen. See if the mute box is checked. If so, you need to uncheck the box.

My laptop will not work on the battery and i need to keep it plugged in although the battery say 100% charged, why

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

Whenever I am trying to boot my desktop....it is going to hibernation...I have checked the monitor, which is working good

press F11 on start and see if it wants to boot in safe mode.. ..if you manage to boot it ..it means that it is just a setting from the video card made wrong ..and I suggest to reinstall the video card ..
If it do not boot atall ..and just beeps a sec and shuts down ..open it and see if the CPU cooler is spinning ...and also check the Ram memory ...If you have more than one units for ram ...remove them one by one ..and try to boot the computer with one at he time and see if any of them is damaged..
In case the ram memory is damaged..the computer will actually not boot at all ..and will not show the device check on start ...but just spins the hdd and clicks in a loop ..
If the computer shows the devices..but goes off when windows is trying to start it needs eiter the video driver to be reinstalled to correct any odd settings ..or the operation system is unable to start and this is cause by the hdd not being detected or a malfunction of the operation system ...In this case..check the HDD to work well ..or reinstall the OS..

Hi. i have an advent 7111 laptop. A while ago i must of accidently uninstalled my sound. i have no sound atall there isnt even a little speaker in the right bottom corner help me please!!!!!

I should go to Control Panel, select Sound and open the menu box.
If that is no use, it is dependant on OS, right hand mouse click on the desktop and select Sounds from there.
You are looking for the Mixing Desk or Sound Mixer to turn the volume back on.
Hope this helps.

My youtube videos plays very late and when ever i try to open it in full screen it starts rebuffering again and does not play atall.

You have a very slow network and the only thing you can do is to select the smallest resolution available and wait for the buffering to be complete.

Dead gateway

That is most likely the power supply, check your cord in the back and make sure it is firmly seated. You may need to replace the power supply, and can getthem online for $50.00 You can check with another extension cord to see if the outlet is bad, if it still dn't wotk you will have to replace the power supply if no lights atall come on. I have had to replcae a few in the gate way, Virus's won't kill power supply.

IBM ThinkCentre A51 PC Desktop won't boot motherboard power supply is good fan comes on. hard drive is spinning no video no audio or beeps

This could still possibly be a bad power supply, even if the fans and drives spin up. If you have a spare try hooking it up.

the list of things that can cause this are:

bad power supply
bad ram
IDE error (optical or hard drive problem)
bad card (modem, video card etc.)
bad processor
bad board

The first thing i would look for in this case is blown capacitors. Those are the little things on the board that look like little soup cans, usually with silver tops. If the tops of any of them are bulging or have junk leaking out of them, you have a bad board. If you are handy with a soldering iron you can try to replace them. Not sure if radio shack still sells caps, but they are easy to find on line. I have about an %80 success rate fixing boards in this way.

If the PS change doesn't work, then try it with different sticks of RAM, if you have more than one, pulling one at a time until it starts or you've tried it with all the ram. If not ram, disconnect the ide cables from the board, these are the wide ones usually connected to the HD's and optical drives. If it still doesnt start then pull all the cards. If it doesnt start then, try swapping processor and if still no joy a new board.

Cant reboot win.98se after using partition magic 6.0 to merge adjacent partition to c. drive

how large the capacity of your hard disk drive? it is possible that would be the problem it is too dangerous that it will lead your hard disk to crash the system and damage the disk itseld that can create bad sectors on your disk. If you want to partition your hard drive, run the FDISK utility instead.
