Nero 7 problems after a C:/ drive wipe

Recently I needed to wipe my C:/ drive. I had to buy a new external disc drive to do so, and it was the first time I use Nero when I used it's back-up function to back up My Documents.

Now, I am unable to decompress the last disc (it used 5 or 6 discs). The first ones were able to decompress, although the names weren't the same and there were one or two files missing.

I kind of need the files that were on the last disc though. Using 7-Zip or WinRar doesn't do it, and there seems to be no function on Nero at all to reinstall a back-up.

Can someone please help.

Your last backup disk is either dirty, scratched or faulty. If it is dirty clean it in cold water and rinse well with a dry cloth before trying again. If it scratched or faulty because nero didnt finalize burning ( it happens quite often), then there may be nothing to do.
Try unpacking the disks on a different computer, sometimes it works.

I have Nero-burning rom and have been using it successfully with Windows XP for the past two and a half years. The disc will not load in my NEW computer using Windows 7. Please help. Regards, Hamilton

first u must check if the disc still in good condition (sometimes the problem is the disc is already damaged)..
if the disc not broken try to explore it and find the setup application then run it. if its doesn't work maybe your windows 7 is installed with 64bit system and i think nero 5.5 is not compatible with 64bit system.

maybe u need up to date software ( nero 7 above)..
hope this useful.

When trying to upload application programme for external dvd writer once nero 7 has been installed, message pops up saying disc is not formatted so we cannot install programme to set up dvd writer

go into add/remove programs and look for a previous version of nero. delete / remove it including incd...incd is used for cdrw and dvdrw discs. this is why you are getting format the disc. you will need to reinstall nero again, incl. incd.... also install power dvd it should be on the same disc..

Are you sure the DVD-R disc you are trying to use is brand new and never written on?

Want to totally clean hard drive to sell computer

All hard drive manufacturers have utilities you can download from their web sites that will write all zeros to your hard drive from a bootup environment.

Then if you get a hold of a copy of Hiren's Boot CD, you boot to this from your CD/DVD drive and select Hard Drive utilites and there is a program called wipe disk.

A free program called GDISK, will wipe a drive according to DOD standards. It doesn't com with a boot loader you can use to boot from your CD/DVD drive, you need to use Nero Express to create a bootup disc using the built in boot image from Nero, add GDISK to it and then once you've booted up, you type the command
gdisk /?
And you will subsequently see command line codes to do a disk wipe. Through trial and error you'll get this right unless you are already comfortable with command line structure.

Hiren's is the best tool and invaluable to have around.
You can find the home page for it here.

Nero dvd

Hiya, No No No! Nero Don't know any differance If the movies you have downloaded NEW OR OLD are illegal or not Nero is just a program that burns data to a dvd or cd disc Try Unistalling the full program Vir - START - Settings - Control Panel - Add & remove programs and then Re-Installing it Or better still Download a cracked version of Nero Premium 7 from any of these links http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=nero premium 7 Enjoy!!
