Connected to printer via USB cable, worked in the past, now it just doesn't print -says 'error'

INSUFFICIENT POWER - USB PORT
If you get an error message "Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB device into the computer's USB port or the un-powered USB hub that is attached to the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive current that the USB port cannot supply. The maximum output from an USB port is 500mA. In case such as this, you need to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer's USB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. If your printer is connected via the USB cable, disconnect your printer from your computer. Reboot your computer. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Try to scan again.
If that doesn't help, try to reinstall the printer software on your computer. This will help repair any corrupted files necessary for scanning or printing.

There is three things that you will need:
Proper port set up on laptop device manager (Check settings) LPT1 is for a parallel port - Need USB Correct Driver for the Citizen 6000 Pro Laser (Windows should auto install) Hub that will communicate via USB to the IEEE 1284 Printer via cable.

I hate to suggest, but you may have to call Microsoft Citizen Tech Support for suggestions on the Hub that will communicate via USB properly. Check your manual for setup options.

Does the error pop up when the printer is booting up, receiving information via network, connected via usb, or connected via parallel cable? It could be two problem. If it would post during printing, then it could be cause by a software or network problem. Test the printer in a standalone mode without any usb or network connection, if the error would post upon power up and without any network connection or usb connection then its a hardware problem. If it's a hardware problem, it would require a service call.

How the printer is connected to PC Via USB or using Network Cable. If it is connected Netwrok cable than printer configuration page and on netwrok configuration there will be IP Address if this is valid IP Address than reinstall drivers and upgrade the Firmware of the printer.

If Printer is connected USB than try different USB Cable and try different USB Port on the computer
If USB port on the computer is working fine and check in Device Manager if the printer has detected as unknown device or not detected at all.
If detected as unknown device than reinstall printer driver if not detected at all than USB Port on the printer is faulty you need to set up hardware repair of the printer.

Dissconnect USB cable add ethenet cable find printer on Mac set to default should work fine then worry about the wireless side inkypete

in FS1010 printer usb port avilable u can connect the printer through usb port .

please delet ur printer driver and reconfigure it . use a usb cable to connect the printer it will work.one more u can put ur printer in network

This sounds like more of a communications problem than it does a "time out" problem. I am assuming that the printer is connected to the computer via a parallel cable. If that is the case, try unplugging the cable at both ends, the reattaching it. If that does not change anything, try replacing the cable.

If that does not solve the problem, try replacing the parallel cable with a USB cable and then follow the directions below.

If by some outside chance you have the printer connected to the computer via USB cable you can do one of two things. Replace the USB cable with a parallel cable or change the printer's port settings to use the USB cable. - If you do have the printer connected via USB cable you might be able to rerun the installation software that came with the printer and it may automatically pick up on the USB set up. If not, go to Contro Panel\Printers and Faxes\ - Right click on your printer and open properties. Under properties, click on the Ports tab. Since the error message stated "error writing to LPT1, check to insure that the LPT1 block is checked. If it is, and you are using a USB cable, scroll down until you see two blocks - "USB001 Virtual printer port for USB" and "DOT4_001". Check the box beside "DOT4_001" then click on Apply and close the window. The try printing again.

try another usb port, also check your printer settings that the printer is set as default printer, optionally remove the printer software and install it again from the cd.

is your printer connected with a serial cable, if so, you may have to install the printer and software again, but if you are connected via usb and this is the given error then there is a connection fault as, you may already know that LPT1 is not a usb connection but serial cable.
