Question about Sony Ericsson Walkman W810i Cellular Phone
Have noticed severa people cannot get their W580i unlocked. I am with Virgin Mobile and they said it would take 30 days. Having waited they now say they cannot get this code and are offering me a replacement phone. I don't want anotherphone as I am sure it will not be such a good model but Virgin does not get a good signal where I live which so I wish to use another provider. Sony Ericsson say I must get the code from the supplier but as they manufacture this phone I can't believe that they cannot provide a means of unlocking it. It seems ludicrous. I did read on one site that most Sony phones require downloading software to make them compatible with other sim cards, can you offer advice on this. Surely, if Sony phones are sold by several different providers, there must be a way to use the model with another sim card, I cannot understand what the problem is. Any advice you can offer will be gratefully received.
Ok, THIS WILL WORK! It worked on my W580i and it wasn't even supposedto. FIRST! Download (8.8MB) XS++ FromHERE:http://forums.se-nse.net/index.php?showtopic=16338
SECOND! No install. It just runs.
Makesure you have ALL drivers for YOUR phone. That should be under thebettery. Under model... or something like that. HERE!http://www.nodevice.com/driver/company/Sony_Ericsson.html
Takeyour phone, turn it off. Start this program and click on connect. You'll have 30 seconds to plug your phone into your computer and HOLD CThe entire time! (the delete button or 2). If connected, then click atthe button: GDFS. There will be a phone lock reset to "0000". Click it.It will take no more than 45 seconds. I promise. Unplug your phone, andvuala! If your phone won't turn on, try pulling out the battery, putting it back and trying again. This program is also good forflashing phones, and putting flash menues on your phone. Also unlockingit and debranding it. GOOD LUCK!

Its not a unlocking code you need, the phone must be flashed wide open..... you need a program called XS++ and the firmware and filesystem for it... (filesystem must be the proper region)

Basically whats going on here is that the networks get the phones from sony ericcson in bulk and they are not sold locked to any network . When the network gets these phones they put there own branding on them and lock them to the network , sony ericsson play no part in the locking of the phones so are unable to tell you what the code is to unlock it . For some reason Virgin are unable to actually find out how they locked their own phones so are trying to palm you off with something else . The best way to get this done now is to go to a phone repair shop and get them to unlock it for you .
