Question about Samsung ML 2151N Laser Printer

Prints one job then stops

I connect via Ethernet using Appletalk. Works for one job only. Then it doesn't see the next job I send until I turn it off and on. I have my router set up so that has a fixed IP of 192.168.0.8.

Thanks. In the meantime, I looked at MacFixit.com, and they gave me an idea. I had been using appletalk (I'm on a Mac) as the printer language, and either an old driver from Samsung or the Generic Postscript printer selected. MacFixit suggested that I change to IPP printing, and try LPR and the other... protocols? Well, that was it. I turned off Appletalk as the printer language, clicked IPP, entered the known, static IP address, and changed it to LPR. It really works like a charm. Now I just want to buy some Samsung RAM, because with 16 MB, an emulated Postscript 3 is very slow.

I am a little confused as to whether you have to restart your printer or reset your router.
If the issue is having to turn your printer off, then sounds like you have to reset or reload the software.
Perform a memory clear to rid the printer of corruption or download and install a new driver.
There is an outside chance also, that your toner cartridge could be very low on ink and not telling you that. It resets the print quality as it starts.
Also a bad memory stick could cause it to lock up.
Start with looking in your menus or a memory clear, and NVM reset. Please before you do anything with memory make sure you know your printer address settings. IP, Gateway and subnet if used.
Highest level of suspician is printer software corruption or driver corruption.

My Hp office-jet Pro X576 printer is connected via a network and if l send a print job it displays printer error switch off machine and the printer restarts .if l use usd it works fine

I would ensure that you have the current firmware installed on the printer and make sure that you are sending the job via network with a correct driver. If you manually set the IP address on your computer and the printer you should be able to connect direct using a crossover cable, I do that in the shop all the time.

Canon ir3170 photocopier how do operate all setting in default setting?

The iR C3170 has two printer board options. The first is the built-in Canon board and the other is the EFI (Fiery). The Canon board is configured via the touch panel via Additional Functions > System Settings > Network Settings. If the Fiery is attached (there will be a rectangular box on the back of the printer that the Cat5 connects to) it is configured via the touch panel but you access it differently. In the top right hand corner of the display will be an arrow. Press it and the next screen will show printer setup/status.

Now for both the Canon and the Fiery, AppleTalk is not enabled by default and therefore has to be if you are going to connect this way. However, if you have the Canon board, it uses the Canon Mac PS Driver v1.40 (or later) that connects via LPR. After you run the installer and then restart (a must) you will have a new option under More Printers called Canon IP (PS). Open this dialog and enter the IP address of the iR C3170 and the queue name of LP. The utility will query the device and choose the appropriate ppd.

But if you want to connect via AppleTalk you cannot use this driver. You need to use the ppd only, which will be on the PS driver cd or you can download from the web.

Now there are a couple of reasons the print job can disappear when using lpd. If the Fiery is attached, the queue name has to be set, such as print. Note that the queue has to be typed as lower case. If the queue name is not set print jobs simply vanish once they leave the Mac.

If you have the Canon board then the queue name is not a factor but there is a setting in the copier called Dept ID and if this is on, it can stop jobs from printing that don't have an appropriate ID. To print with Dept ID enabled you have to use the Canon Mac driver mentioned above. You cannot use the ppd!The driver has the facility to set a user ID (which is generally used for tracking or controlling usage - especially colour) in the driver, located under Special Features. Note that if the Mac only has one user, you can set the ID in the driver and then save the config as a preset, which saves the user having to input the ID every time they print.

Hope there is enough in here to help. Get back to me if you still have issues.

We are using our Konica Minolta Di3510 as our primary printer. It is connected via ethernet. Everything was working fine until we added internet. Now about half the jobs I send to the Di3510 get stuck...

There is too little information to work out your problem here exactly, but I think here is a conflict in your network. I think you have to read the manual of your modem and printer to see for the settings of your network. Is it DHCP? Do you have a fixed IP address for your printer (that is the best thing to do), and is your Gateway address correct with the correct subnetmask. When your printer starts, it 'asks' for a IP address. Your modem 'gives' an address, but it can be a conflict with an other address in the network. If you set a fixed IP address, your printer will always have the same address and can be found... So take the time to look carefully to your modem settings: is DHCP on? Which range will it use? What is the Gataway address, what is your subnet mask? Take also a look at your printer settings: Is DHCP on? Does it have a fixed IP address? And take a look to your printer driver: to what IP address are you printing? Those three things have to match in order to recognize each other.

The machine was moved to another location. the message states "close lower side cover" the door is closed. there is a crack in the hinge of the door. i press on the door and nothing happens. ...

Turn the power switch off.
If the printer has an external Ethernet adapter (an additional device that connects the Ethernet cable to the printer -- often this adapter will be a small gray or black box attached to the back of the printer), unplug its AC adapter from the power source.
Save your work and shut down your computer.
Wait a few seconds, plug the Ethernet adapter back in first, and then turn the printer back on.
Turn the computer back on

If the printer remains unresponsive, check the print queue for the printer, there may be other users' print jobs blocking up the queue. To check the queue on a Windows computer, go to Start -> Settings -> Printers and double-click on the printer. On a Macintosh, double-click on the printer on the desktop. If there are numerous print jobs stuck in the queue, cancel any jobs you own. If there are jobs owned by other users, you can contact those users directly or call the Help Desk to request assistance unblocking the queue.

If the queue is empty, try creating a small text file and print to the printer. If this prints correctly, the problem is likely with the other document rather than with the printer.

If the text document does not print, have another user print a small text document from their computer. If this document goes through, the problem may be with your computer rather than the printer.

Windows users should remove the printer by deleting it from Start -> Settings -> Printers and re-add it from its NTPrintServer queue.

Macintosh users can throw the printer in the Trash and reinstall it from the Chooser. If the printer no longer appears in the appropriate AppleTalk Zone, it may have been taken off the network or its AppleTalk name or zone have changed.

AppleTalk printers can occasionally lose their configuration and "forget" their zone. If you no longer see the printer in the appropriate zone in the Chooser, check the Unconfigured zone. If the printer has never been given an informative AppleTalk name, for example if a default name like "HPLaserJet6M" was never changed, there may be more than one printer with that name in the Unconfigured zone. If there are multiple printers with the same name in a zone, they are automatically assigned a number (#1, #2, #3, etc). To figure out which is the correct one, turn off the printer and see which one disappears from the zone. When you turn the printer back on, you will be able to pick out the correct printer.

Samsung ML-2510 will not print from MAC OS on Macbook

Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems,
OK, first of all, you can stop worrying about solution #3, this printer is a USB or Parallel, there is no networking on this printer so no possibility of an AppleTalk connection.
You say you have downloaded the latest version of the driver from the Samsung website.
And, the Mac is connected DIRECTLY to the printer via USB.... ( It won't work if it's connected to a PC and then shared.. well it might work but I have not been able to make this kind of connection work...)
Well, if this is the case and you are unable to print while the PC prints fine, I expect that it is over the Parallel port or do you plug and un-plug between the Mac and PC...
It might be that the printer needs to reset after switching between the Mac and the PC, Shut off the Printer, I mean really, shut it down, unplug it for 30 seconds then connect it to the Mac and restart the Mac and start up the printer....
If it still does not work, do you have another Mac you can connect to for testing?
Also, the first test should not be FireFox, open the Text Edit app and type ( TEST ) and just print that...
Give that a whirl..

ANy solution to the lack of fuji drivers for new macs and OS?

4500N can't be recognize with an Intel Mac, because the Appletalk doesn't work. My solution to print: I've got a powerPC as an interface between Imac intel and fuji network adapter. The pictro driver is installed on both machines. On The Intel, The Appletalk is connected on Airport. On the PowerPc, The Appletalk is connected on Ethernet. Ethernet cable between powerPC and pictro network adapter. SCSI2 cable between PNA and the 4500. Of course, auto calibrating + eye-one color calibrating. WELL!! it works.

Printer Won't Print

Step one: Restart the computer
Click Start and click Shut Down.
Click Restart or select Restart from the menu. Click OK.
After the computer restarts, double-click the Printer icon in the system tray located at the bottom, right of the computer. The print queue opens. If no documents appear in the print queue, the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step two: Check the product cable, Disconnect the USB cable from the product and from the computer.
Wait 5 to 6 seconds. Reconnect the USB cable to the product and computer.
(NOTE: The product must be connected directly to the computer using a USB cable or a powered USB hub. If the product is connected to the computer through a non-powered USB hub, or if the type of hub is unknown, connect the product directly to the computer) after the product is connected to the computer, the product should start printing the jobs in the print queue. If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step three: Determine whether the product is paused or offline, Click Start and click Printers and Faxes. The Printers and Faxes window appears. In the Printers and Faxes window, right-click the product icon and click Open. The Printers folder opens. On the menu bar, click Printer. Make sure that the Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline options are not selected. If a check mark appears next to either option, click to remove it. If the menu includes Use Printer Online, click that option.
If neither Pause Printing nor Use Printer Offline is selected, press Esc to leave the menu without making changes.
If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step four: Stop the print queue, Double-click Macintosh HD, Double-click the Application/Utilities folder.
Open the Print Setup Utility folder; Double-click the appropriate product in the product list to open the print queue.
Click Start Jobs. (NOTE: If the queue was accidentally stopped, the print job will resume automatically. If the issue continues, proceed to the next step)
Step five: Delete the print jobs, Double-click Macintosh HD, Double-click the Application/Utilities folder.
Open the Print Setup Utility folder, Click a print job and click the Delete icon. Repeat the steps for all the jobs in the print queue, Click Start Jobs, Double-click the appropriate product in the product list to open the print queue.
When the print queue is empty, click Start Jobs. Try the print job again. If the issue continues, proceed to the next step.
Step six: Remove and re-add the product to the printer list, Double-click Macintosh HD, Double-click the Application/Utilities folder, Open the Print Setup Utility folder, Select the appropriate product.
Click the red X to delete the product from the computer, Disconnect the USB or Ethernet cable from the product.
Close all open windows and restart the computer, after the computer is restarted, double-click Macintosh HD.
Double-click the Application/Utilities folder, Open the Print Setup Utility folder, and Reconnect the USB or Ethernet cable to the product. If the product is not automatically added, click Add. Select the product to add and click the Add button. After a few seconds, the product appears in the printer list. Try the print job again.

Cannot connect using Appletalk protocol

Given that this issue is three years old, and AppleTalk protocol is no longer even supported, it probably should be laid to rest.

Samsung ML-2510 will not print from MAC OS on Macbook

I had the same problem and found the solution on the Apple discussion boards. Apparently, OSX 10.4 installs the printer as a Lexmark 510 series, not a Samsung ML-2510.
Just add a new printer and change the type from Lexmark 510 series to ML-2510 series.
Worked a charm for me!
