We're having the same problem here. Same DELL Vostro 1500. Even as we type this message it did it twice.

PCMServices.exe seems to be the repair in 90% of the cases, I do not have this option on and it continues with delay! thank you kindly

There is a solution on these Dell Models.

Go to Start>RUN and type in MS Config

Go to the startup tab and uncheck the PCMServices.exe

Restart the computer, and it should fix it.

After I started to experience this issue after two year of having the Vostro 1500 on Window XP the keyboard delays in the Office Products began to happen. The PCMService solution did not work for me so I keep searching on the web and found a forum that suggested that it was the MediaDirect Instant Office that is causing the delay. One post said to disable it and reboot. That didn't work so I went into add/remove programs and removed the entire MediaDirect software from Dell. And presto, all delays are gone, and the computer is actually running much faster, booting faster, and the blasted delays when typing are completely history. Hope this helps others who have suffered with this extremely unproductive typing delay.

Have you installed your graphics adopter properly. It might cause delay the character to be appear on screen.

So, first check out your display driver.

Additionally you can go Satart->Conptrol Panle->Keyboard sttings but you can set only the repeat delay there. Also try this.

Thanks

What kind of warning do you get? i would update the BIOS from dell.com. also, get rid of Vista and get Windows 7. apart from that this could also be a motherboard issue.

Boot to the F12 menu, see if you can boot to the HDD diagnostics. If not, boot to the Dell Resource CD, run the HDD diagnostics from there. If Diags fail, replace the HDD. If they pass, boot to the Vista DVD, then run a repair of the operating system

Vostro 1500 speaker problem

Make sure you dont have the laptop muted. Seems simple, but ive caught myself with a muted computer before. First, check to see if your computer is muted, by looking at the little speaker icon by the clock. if there is no speaker there, go into control panel> sounds and audio devices, and check there. Lastly if you have no sound, check your media player, because the player itself can be muted/turned down as well. I hope that helps

DELL Vostro 1500 causing many problems...

For using xp you must have the correct drivers. These should be available for download from the Dell support website. You may also find updating windows xp will help you may be using service pack one, so make sure all updates are done.

If you have to load drivers you should load the chipset first followed by the graphics then the sound. Check on your hardware list under system in control panel that there are no conflicts.

I hope this is helpful please rate the assistance given.
